Chifuyu should've known that leaving his window open would be a bad idea but Toman just finished having a fight with another gang and he was too tired to shut his window when he got home.
As punishment, he woke up to someone poking his cheek.
Chifuyu groaned. He opened his eyes groggily and looked over his shoulder. It was Y/N. Of course it was Y/N. "Y/N?" He shifted and sat up so he was leaning against his headboard.
"You should've left the other window open. I almost knocked over Peke J's bowl." Y/N sat on the bed and took off the hood of his hoodie. He sighed dramatically before falling backwards and spreading himself across Chifuyu's legs not caring if Chifuyu was uncomfortable with the position. "Poor Peke J would've been without his food." He glanced over to Chifuyu with the back of his hand resting on his forehead. "And you would've been out of some cash."
"I'd make you pay for the wasted food."
With a huff, Y/N sat up properly and crossed his arms. "I'd have you know that me and Peke J have a special bond and he would be absolutely destroyed if he found out that I,Y/N L/N, had to buy his food."
A small chuckle escaped Chifuyu before he could stop himself. "Sure," he said. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. It was too late to be up. His alarm clock said it was 3:49am. He didn't get home till at least 2:30am so he didn't even sleep for that long either. His body was aching and sore. His mind fried. He was exhausted. "Why are you here?"
Y/N pulled his legs up to his chest. He sighed and rested his chin against his knees. He hesitated before he started to speak. "Y'know how my dad is. He got stupid drunk again and I just... I couldn't handle him yelling at me for a third night in a row."
Chifuyu frowned. "You don't have to tell me if it's too much." The comfort of his friends was always a priority to Chifuyu, especially when it came to Y/N. He didn't want anyone to force themselves to tell him something they weren't ready to share.
Y/N shook his head. "No, I want to tell you. This is me explaining why I came." He weakly laughed. "So I got so mad as my dad kept yelling and calling me down and my mom and he got in my face and his breath just stank of alcohol. It made me want to puke so I pushed him away.... He hit me square in the jaw." Y/N rubbed the makeup off his cheek, trying not to whimper in pain, a dark purple bruise showed underneath the product. "I didn't want my mom to know so I ran to the bathroom and put makeup on the damn thing and came up with a lame excuse to leave. I know I'm a horrible person to leave her there but I just... I couldn't take it anymore." Y/N paused to take a deep breath. "Honestly, I don't know why he didn't run after me but once I left the bathroom, he was already passed out on the couch so I know my mom will be fine but a part of me is scared if he wakes up and tries something."
Chifuyu's frown deepened the more he listened. He knew Y/N didn't have a good at home life but he never knew to that extent. Has it always been this bad? Did it get worse as they got older?
"I promise your dad won't do anything. I'm sure your mom understands that you can't stay there. He's hurting you. He's hurting both of you." Chifuyu sighed quietly. He knew he couldn't do anything more than support Y/N on the sidelines. Y/N didn't want him to be directly involved. "C'mere," he said.
Y/N hesitated.
Knowing Y/N just needed a little push, Chifuyu wrapped his fingers around the smaller boy's wrist and pulled Y/N towards him. "You know you're safe here, right?"
The two of them had been friends forever and Y/N was never denied or turned away when he showed up unannounced. His parents loved Y/N. They constantly asked about him and even asked Chifuyu to bring Y/N over more. Chifuyu, well... he loved Y/N too and wanted him to come over too but he knew it wasn't possible because they were both busy almost every day.
