                                               In Criminal Law, there are certain words that are uses to define some types of criminals. For example, a mugger is someone who attacks and maybe steal something from a person in a public space. On the other hand, we have thefts, who only steal things from people. 
Also, there are two types of "minor crimes". First, a petty offense, which means that a person comitted an action that actually is not considered a crime, but it's not correct (like speeding). Then, there is a misdemeanor, where the action is actually a crime, but it is classified as one of the less serious types of crime, like domestic violence (sadly, it should be classified as more serious).
