Oh thank Satan. Finally finished with all the work for today. Or at least that's what you thought. "Oh traveler wait. I still have a commission waiting for you!" you heard Katheryne call after you. With a big sigh you turned around again to listen to what the receptionist of the adventurers guild had to say. Even though you tried your best to stay focused you just couldn't. At that moment you were grateful that Paimon was accompanying you since otherwise you wouldn't have been able to not fall asleep or break down. Slowly but surely you made your way to the commission. Even though Paimon protested and said you should rest you just didn't. You weren't quite sure yourself why not. Maybe you had the subconscious hope that you wouldn't make it out of this commission this time. Everything was just too much. The pressure of the people to always be able to help them even if you couldn't expect any real help with your problems. Even if you would stop helping people you just couldn't stop caring about what they think of you. You just wanted a break from everything. You wanted to feel relaxed instead of constantly stressed. At this point, you didn't know when the last time was when you got some actual rest but no one seemed to care. Maybe Paimon did but she still managed to get you more and more commission to do.
Now you were only halfway to the commission and you already felt even more exhausted. At this point, you let your guard so much down that you didn't notice the man approaching you. Someone you hadn't seen in quite a while. "Oh Y/N. I didn't think I would meet you here!" the tall man said which caught you pretty of guard due to your current state. As soon as he noticed that with the combination of that you didn't give any kind of reply worried him more than you expected. When you finally understood that it wasn't just wishful thinking that this person was there but him actually being with you you wanted to say something but you barely could say his name before all went black. "Dain...."
As you slowly regained full consciousness you didn't immediately open your eyes. The feeling of two strong arms wrapped around you and hearing the heartbeat of this person was just too relaxing. All the relaxation was ripped away from you as soon as you remembered. You practically jumped up which caused the before peaceful sleeping Dain to wake up. "What are you doing?" the blonde asked you with a still sleepy but deep voice. "The commission still needs to be done and-" you tried replied in a hurry to get back to your duties. "Forget about them for once and all the stuff that needs to be done. For now you are going to take a break from helping others and just relax until I decide otherwise aka I can be sure that something like that earlier won't happen again. I don't even wanna imagine what would have happened if I wouldn't have been there." the tall man interrupted you now being fully awake. "Why exactly would you care? And did you even rest after the events in the chasm?!" You snapped. The stress made you completely irrational. But as soon your mind became clear again you almost immediately regretted lashing out at him like that. Before you could even start to apologize you felt the man you adored so much pull you into a hug. The feeling of safety immediately settled in when you felt the embrace. You couldn't help but to start crying and Dain tried his best to comfort you. At the same time, he tried to find a way to express to you how he felt about you. Meanwhile, your mind couldn't help but to overthink. You were so scared that he was now made at you or wouldn't like you anymore which was complete nonsense if you kept in mind how much he tried to comfort you. While being that lost in thoughts you almost didn't notice the light kiss Dain placed on the top of your head but as soon as you realized what he did your thoughts could only focus on that. At the same time, your cheeks changed into a bright red color which you tried to hide by burying your face in his chest. What exactly didn't help with your blush (it rather made it worse) but it did a good job hiding it. Damn how can somebody be that cute like Y/N is?! the khaenri'ahn man thought. Slowly and gently he took your chin to make you look at him. "Y/N please let me show you why I care so much about you." he said to which you at first refused since in your mind he didn't have to justify anything but he insisted. But he choose to do it with actions instead of words and with that he slowly closed the already small gap between your lips. After getting over the small shock you kissed back. Sadly not too long after your lips had to separate again for the annoying thing called air. "I care about you so much because I love you. You make me feel things I haven't for hundreds of years. When I see your smile my heart practically melts away. I could look at your beautiful face all day long and never could get tired of it. I just can't express how much I love you Y/N." "Oh really. I would have never guessed. What a shocker." you could suddenly hear Paimon. ".... Paimon how long have you been here?" you asked. "The whoooolee time." was her reply and that made your cheeks return to a bright red. With that Dainsleif practically threw her out of the room to have some alone time with you and maybe do some other stuff as well.
