Jahniqui's POV
Feeling rejuvenated after last night I patiently waited for a cab outside my apartment to get to work. Last night's sleep was the best i've had in days. It felt good.
Deep in thought, i didn't see the 2007 Infiniti G35 sports sedan that pulled up to my feet. It was only when D'Andre stepped out and walked to me snapping his finger in an attempt of bringing me back to earth, that I snapped out of my daze.
"Good morning beautiful." He said charmingly. His voice was velvety smooth and I wonder how hadn't I notice that before. Maybe because you channeled all of your energy and focus into hating him. The ungodly subconscious of mine snickered.
"Good morning to you too. What are you doing here?" I asked curious as to why he stopped in front of me.
"Can I give you a lift to work?" He asked but he has never offered me a ride before but ok. I'll accept the chivalry for now. How could I resist saving some cash, although it didn't cause any major damage to my bank account. His car was quite nice if you ask me. He had opened the door for me when I accepted his offer. Busy admiring the plush leather interior of his car and how comfortable the seats were, I felt him gently place his hand just under my chin to keep my mouth from being a fly trap.
My cheeks flushed immediately from the impact as shivers ran rapidly down my spine. Why is it that every damn time he touched me I felt the sparks ignite within me and butterfly in my stomach? I was like pudding under his strong hands. Get a hold of yourself Valentine.
I looked out the window for the rest of the journey and every now and then I would feel him stealing glanced in my way. I have to admit it did do funny things to me. On our approach to the building, I realized that he went to a private parking lot that said staff only. I have worked here in so long and I didn't know this building had a parking lot. Shocking, I know.
He pulled into a slot that marked CEO. Obvious much. Thanking him for the lift, I got out and began to walk around to go to the entrance of the building. But he stopped me by placing his hand on my wrist.
"Where are you going? There is a private elevator here." He said like I was supposed to know that. "Oh. Okay." My only respond to him. We made our way there and I saw him press his right thumb on the biometric scanner. The door opened and a we shoot up to the top floor after it closed.
On my walk to my office he gently whispered 'enjoy your day Ms. Valentine' behind my ear before scampering off to office. His minty breath had breathed down my neck leaving me in a delightful frenzy. The feeling it brought on me was crazy. A good kinda crazy.
For the rest of the day I worked the case files of some off my clients, set court dates up on my calendar, made a lot of calls and so forth. At around 3 o'clock I was randomly going through the files in the Kelly case when I saw some discrepancies. I couldn't understand the meaning of these files so I decided to get an expert eye on them.
Getting up I heard my stomach growl and I totally forgot that I hadn't had lunch. Clumsy me to forget food. Nice going Valentine. Taking the files I head down to Leanna's depart to try and get some clarifications on this thing. Unfortunately when I got there Leanna called in sick. I wondered what happened because she seem fine to me yesterday. I make a mental note to check on her today after work.
Anyway I got a guy in the department to take a look on the pile of mumbo jumbo within the files. It turns out that it was a member of the board that Kelly fired was suing him for doing so. But also has been having secret meetings with other members of the board to take down half of the man's company without him knowing. He was in for some serious shit if I didn't get enough evidence on this damn case.
