Late, I was going to be late on my first day. My alarm didn't go off, brilliant that's just brilliant. I stared at myself in the tall mirror, running a brush through my blonde hair. I pulled it into a ponytail and rummaged through the pile of clothes loaded onto the chair, I jumped into my jeans and zipped up my jacket, not exactly first-day material but it was all I had if I wanted to make it on time. I ran down the stairs and out the back door, on my way through the kitchen I picked up a packet of off-brand crisps and an apple. I made it to the bus stop in record-breaking time, to my luck the bus was pulling in. This was just about the only luck I would have this day.
I scan my app and take a seat at the back of the bus, it's empty. How creepy. I raked through my mess of a college bag and laid out the makeup on the seat next to me.
I place my headphones into my ears and let the music take over, it fills the eerie silence.
In another wave of bad luck, I missed my stop. I smash the bell and wait as the bus slowly comes to a halt.
I rush to grab my belongings and head to the front of the bus " thank you have a good day", I say my voice still coated with sleep.

I look to my left and then to my right, I could go my normal way or I could be on time and finally brave the alley full of smokers, stoners and wannabe roadmen. Screw it I think, I can't be late on the first day. I walk to the alley and look down the winding path. That's odd, there's police tape. I see multiple students piling into the entrance and shrug, it's probably just Halloween decorations, right? It was obviously not Halloween decorations in the middle of September but I was naive and quite frankly oblivious to anything that didn't hit me in the face.

Stepping into the alleyway I hear my phone ring, picking up I yawn " you know you're lucky I even answered your call ". The line quiets for a second " don't be cruel I have big news". Shaking my head " shoot". " They found a dead body ", she stated sounding worried. Poor choice of words, note to self: don't say shoot when you answer the phone.
My heart speeds up slightly, I don't panic it's probably in a different country. " by your college, like next to the college". I nodded slowly " well then that explains the police tape". " police tape, what police tape?", the person on the other line questioned. I look around and the suddenly empty alley " I think I'm in an active crime scene right now, can I call you back?". " call me later, let me know how your first day goes", they plead. I put my phone away and look up to see a police officer standing in front of me " Jesus Christ", I shout startled . " you really shouldn't be here right now", he said a small smile appearing on his face. I held my hands up in surrender " I didn't realise, I'm innocent officer I swear". Stop talking I tell myself, As the officer studies me I catch sight of a cyclist, I saw they had a duffel bag on each handlebar, I had so many questions, which I would later get to ask. 2 duffel bags ... who needs two duffel bags ?

I should tell someone, right? I should tell the police officer. I'm not telling the police officer and before I know it, I'm telling the police officer.  " you do see the person with the duffel bags right ? in the light blue jumper and the denim shorts", I said pointing secretly at the person on the bike. I'm kicking myself for saying something, god if I had just kept my mouth shut.

So now I was late and most likely in trouble with the Law. " hey I'm just a college student can I get to class?", I asked sluggishly. The police officer shook his head " well darling for all we know the criminal was also just a college student".

After what felt like hours I finally weaseled my way away from the police officer and into college. I rushed through the halls " I'm so sorry I'm late I got held up", I stuttered out struggling to catch my breath. " take a seat in the back", the lecturer said pointing to a set of twins. I smirked, Twins always bought me unexplainable joy. Not these twins though, all they caused was trouble. I sat down in the corner of the classroom and smiled at the twins. Neither of them smiled back, rude. I didn't know then those twins weren't just rude they were evil. Into the classroom walks the boy on the bike and he was staring at me, I felt as though he could see through me. I didn't dare move. He took a seat in front of me and turned around '' Hi I'm Ethan ... Ethan Lyall'', he said his Scottish accent filling the room. The twins look at each other and then at Ethan as if they were the same person they turned their heads and extended their arms to shake his hand. I shivered and smiled ''wolf''. What the hell was I saying? His eyes darkened '' I beg your pardon?''. I blinked hard '' your last name means wolf''. I shook my head in shock '' I'm sorry, I'm Artemis'', I copy the twins and reach out to shake his hand, he takes it but pulls away with a howl of pain. I chuckled slightly '' eclectic shock, probably just something your wearing''. It was then I realised that less than half an hour ago I had accused Mr Lyall of being a criminal and here I was shaking his hand. Get it together, I thought to myself.
