The sky was now draped with acute darkness as Youngmi reeled through numerous streets one after the other. By rallying her vacant stares between the moonless night and the asphalt surface that laid beneath the sole of her feet, she had assumed that she would be able to divert her mind for a change. But the thickening murk— both above and ahead of her— was only obscuring her vision with pessimism.
Somehow, the dismal stillness that was lingering around looked foreshadowing to her.
Almost portentous of an ominous event.
What could be the odds that she was not merely overthinking the whole incident? That passing her friend's personal information— on top of her own— to the police department could actually prove to be detrimental for the both of them in the end? She had already been juggling more lies than she could handle, what if she lost her hold over one of them and everything went into rack and ruin as its domino effect?

The vapid expression on her face was intense enough not to be influenced by any occurrence whatsoever, but when her gaze had finally fallen upon what had had her mind preoccupied all this while, her eyes widened as if she had no clue regarding what was about to unfold in front of her.
Or the process behind it. Or the trigger due to which it escalated all so quickly. Or rather who, to begin with.
Youngmi's brain kept on churning out thoughts that she must have wanted to seek the least at that moment, pestering her relentlessly into feeling royally guilty. But what was supposed to take place, had already taken place. And she must come to terms with her footing at this point in order not to interlope anymore.
"What... is happening here? Wh—Who's that lady right there?" She stuttered, her eyes beseeching one of the nurses.
"Aren't you Miss Shin Youngmi, the deceased's temporary guardian?" The nurse quizzed, prompting Youngmi to subtly bob her head in agreement, "She's his mother. I wonder what took her so long to claim her son—"
"Wait, what do you mean deceased? My friend is still alive. Have the rooms been exchanged, by any chance?" Youngmi's gaze bore into the other female's.
