It was past midnight,drizzling outside and the town's occupants were all couped up in their beds
A figure could be seen climbing the window of the late pastors house

Eva always had an eerie feeling when something was about to happen,she felt it the day Peter was killed and knew never to ignore it again
she was wide awake when she heard the window of one of the rooms been forced open,the person was being quiet....the events of peters death never scared her until now,"was it the killer? if it was then she had to go wake up Ace...or scream bloody murder for the criminal to run away and save her head

She took her bedside lantarn,she knew the act of walking quietly because she sneaked around Peter a lot

She quietly opened her door and saw the light coming out from Peter's office,,the person was in there obviously searching for something

She didn't think twice before heading to that direction
she was not afraid of death or anything, living with a demon did that to you
she was almost at the office when the dark figure back handed her catching her off guard,she landed on the floor
She tried calling Ace but the person's wet hand covered her mouth,while the other chocked her mercilessly

"She was going to die

He was going to strangle her to death,she thought frantically gasping for air through her nose,,she did the only thing she ever did when Peter was going too far,she bit the hand covering her mouth...it worked!!!

The burglar immediately freed her mouth and she screamed for Ace with all her might..........

Ace heard the window opening but thought it was Eva sneaking her lover in as payback for what he did..when he heard her ear piercing scream,he dashed to the direction it was coming from without a second thought

All he saw was a panting Eva and a figure drenched by the rain flying past the window like a ninja,he wanted to chase after him but thought otherwise,it was raining and he would have gone far

He helped Eva from the floor,her eyes was wider than saucers

"Who was that?he asked cluelessly Eva was pissed off was this how city people acted,was he that clueless she almost died...

"He was a thief obviously,I nearly died, you sleep like a log..she answered angry,hell she was beyond angry,what was his problem....

"Never thought they'd be burglars in such a small town, what was he looking for, there's no valuable thing here...he asked confused

He listened carefully as Eva told him everything,how foolish of him to think it was her lover,he wasn't particularly happy with her but she was still dear to him..she could have been hurt
he pondered over what the burglar would have been looking for
the events of Peter's death was questionable but he didn't put much thought to it,he will have to secure the house till Dawn before going to the sheriff's office

Eva refused to go back to her room and insisted on staying with Ace in the living room,he took a surveillance tour around the house at dawn before heading to the sheriff's office to report the case

The sheriff took down the accounts of the event and promised to come by later,Ace took an overall look at the pot bellied man and knew the case wouldn't result to anything
For reasons unknown to even himself he decided to not tell the sheriff about the burglars search
there's a killer at large who might go scoot free,it was up to him to protect Eva and himself till his departure

He found her making breakfast,he could get used to this
His fancy apartment in Mexico was always empty, sometimes he'll forget to even order food,it was all work and work
He built his company from the very scratch,he had no choice he had to do it for himself and his mother,today he has one of the most successful company in Mexico,it can only get better

After briefing her of all that took place concluding with the fact that they had to stay together at all times for safety they continued with their silent breakfast...which wasn't successful

Hannah and an elderly woman from church interrupted them, Ace took his breakfast inside hesitantly

Eva was shocked to see them so early at her house,she was furious when Hannah explained to her they came immediately she heard the news of the intruder last night"how can the sheriff act so unprofessional with such a news,he was just told this morning and it's everywhere in town already,how will he catch the criminal
Eva stated angrily

"That's not for your to worry about dear,the Deaconess has made room for you to stay at her house you shouldn't be here alone with him coupled with the danger looming around... Hannah persuaded

Eva didn't want to leave this place yet,she'll only leave when she's certain she was leaving this town,she couldn't say no to Hannah while the Deaconess was there,"I can't leave my husband's house barely a month after his death despite the danger but I'll think about it,,she said just to get the Deaconess off her back
Her answer was justified,,so the women went on their way
