The next day, I was so nervous. It felt like forever waiting for Lana to show up. What would I even say? What would she say? I was really hoping that she'd give me answers about the night she left.
Soon enough, I heard the slightest knock on the door. Summer crept her head around the door and stepped in. I almost didn't expect Lana to stumble in behind her. The second she stepped in, we locked eyes for what seemed like forever. "Hi, Marina", she said smiling.
I cupped my hand over my mouth, my eyes filling with tears. Lana quickly walked over and hugged me. As soon as she put her arm around me, I started sobbing. She hugged me tight. "It's gonna be okay..", she said.
I nodded, still sobbing. "Lana, where'd you go?", I said in between sobs. She stared at me sadly. It felt like an eternity till she answered. "I went home, Marina.", she said. I glared at her. "Home?", I asked, confused. I hadn't even noticed that Summer left the room.
Lana nodded at me. "I went home. But I remembered how much I hated it there, so I got an apartment. I'd saved up enough money to make a demo and send it in to a record label. And they signed me.", she said casually, as if we were just old friends from high school.
"Oh." was all I could manage out. She smiled at me. I looked away quickly. She looked down at my wrists. "Oh, Marina, would've I done?", she said, her eyes rimming with tears. I gave her a look of sympathy. I couldn't tell her it wasn't her fault. Because it really was.
