The sound of rain pattering on the window and thunder rumbling around in the sky were the only things heard. The entire apartment was quiet. So quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Literally. The two girls stared at each other. Neither one of them broke eye contact. A few occasional blinks were slipped in, but other than that, nothing. The young girl sitting on the couch shifted uncomfortably at the tension.

It was almost suffocating. The way they stared at each other, their stares filled with blank emotions, not being able to tell what the other was thinking. The young girl, Maeyeong, slowly slid off of the couch, wiggling her way toward the two. Taeri slipped down a draw 2 card making Kyungmi smile. Taeri's eyes widened when Kyungmi slammed down her last card. Another draw 2 card.

"Uno out."

Kyungmi threw her hands up laughing hysterically while Taeri muttered out every curse word known to mankind. "No way. You cheated," Taeri hissed as she pointed an accusing finger at her.

Kyungmi instantly grew offended, her face contorting in confusion. "Yah! Who are you calling a cheater?"

Taeri jumped to her feet while throwing the rest of her hand on the table. Most of the cards slipped onto the floor, scattering everywhere. "There's no way that was your last card!" Kyungmi's face expressed her annoyance. Taeri jabbed her forefinger into Kyungmi's shoulder. Kyungmi swatted her hand away. "How'd you do it? Hide a card up your sleeve? Hmm?"

Kyungmi took a step forward, pressing Taeri. "Taeri-ya. Watch yourself. Did I accuse you when you won the last game?" She asked with her right brow raised in a questioning manner.

"Yes, you did. And then called me a stupid bitch afterward," Taeri exclaimed.

Kyungmi rolled her eyes and scoffed. "That's ridiculous. Why would I call you that?"

Taeri's eyes widened as she turned to look at Maeyeong. "Do you hear this? I think she's got split personalities or something," Taeri turned her attention back to Kyungmi. "How do you not remember calling me that?"

Kyungmi shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. Maybe because I didn't?"

Maeyeong sighed in disbelief. She pushed herself to her feet before looking between the two. "I'm burning all the games in the house if you two keep this up," she snapped. Kyungmi and Taeri paused the arguing to look at Maeyeong.

Maeyeong pointed an accusing finger at the two before pointing at the scattered Uno cards on the coffee table. "You two do this every time we play a game. I mean, come on. Taeri eonni, you broke the CandyLand game board last week because Kyungmi eonni surpassed you after only two turns, and Kyungmi eonni, you threw our poker chips out the window a month ago because you were down $5. Come on, you're gonna destroy all the games at this point."

Kyungmi and Taeri shared a blank expression before looking back at Maeyeong who stared at the two. "I'm calling your mother and telling her to pick you up" Taeri announced before bending down to grab her phone. Kyungmi nodded her head in agreement, her bottom lip protruding slightly.

Maeyeong's face dropped in horror as she reached to grab the phone. "I'm sorry, eonni," Maeyeong pleaded while trying to grab the phone from Taeri. "Eonni, please," Maeyeong dropped to her knees, vigorously rubbing her hands together. Maeyeong bowed her head, placing her hands over her head, attempting to show Taeri that she was truly sorry.

Taeri paused while Kyungmi watched with an amused smile. "Are you going to burn our games?" Taeri questioned with a brow raised in curiosity. Maeyeong instantly shook her head while staring at the ground. "Okay then," with that Kyungmi and Taeri started cleaning up their mess. Maeyeong peeked up at them, glancing between the two with a bewildered expression.

"Guys we really don't have time to stop here," Kyungmi pointed out. "We'll miss our bus," she countered. . Maeyeong and Taeri ignored her as they gushed over the small cafe and how cute and cozy it looked. Kyungmi sighed in defeat before silently following the two, dragging her feet the rest of the way.

Maeyeong walked with Taeri, their arms linked together as they made their way into the small cafe. Kyungmi was close behind them. The small bell on the top of the door rang when Maeyeong pushed the door open.

The young lady behind the counter smiled at them, welcoming them inside. "Good morning. What can I get you today?" she asked as she greeted them.

Smiling back,  Maeyeong dragged Taeri towards the counter. "Ah, an Iced Americano, please," Maeyeong asked politely, watching as the lady logged it into the computer.

The lady's eyes drifted between Taeri and Kyungmi. When Kyungmi noticed that Taeri was still staring at the menu she went ahead and ordered. "Can I have a Mango Milk Tea with tapioca pearls, please," Kyungmi ordered. The lady nodded while humming. Her fingers swiftly moved across the computer screen before moving her eyes to Taeri.

"I'll have a regular green tea, please," Taeri ordered, finally moving her eyes away from the menu. The lady nodded her head, placing both of the orders into the computer. She showed them the screen, telling them how much their total was. Kyungmi handed the lady the money while Maeyeong and Taeri moved to the side.

Kyungmi sighed as she looked down at her phone, eyeing the time. "Relax, we'll make it on time," Taeri reassured her. Kyungmi fixed her mask, wiggling it around so she didn't feel so stuffy. Maeyeong watched the way Kyungmi shuffled from one leg to the other, nervously. "Kyungmi-ya, it's okay," Taeri whispered to her.

The lady smiled at them as she handed them their drinks. "Have a good day," she hollered after them. Kyungmi whipped around to bow at the lady but smacked her head into somebody's shoulder. Kyungmi whined in pain while rubbing her forehead gently. The other person apologized before walking away.

Kyungmi grabbed their arm, making them halt in surprise. Their friend looked worried but didn't want to cause a scene so he walked up to her and gently asked Kyungmi to remove her hand. "Jungwon-ah?"

His eyes widened before completely tugging his arm out of Kyungmi's grasp. "Sorry, but I'm in a rush," he bowed and moved to walk away from her. He had no idea that someone would notice him with the mask on. He tugged his baseball cap down a little more.

Kyungmi sucked her teeth in annoyance. "Yah. Little Yang," she called after him.

Jungwon halted in his step once again before turning to look at her. He eyed her for a moment but seeing how most of her face was covered by a mask, he couldn't exactly tell who she was. "Do you know her, hyeong?" his friend, Niki, questioned in a hushed tone. Jungwon shrugged as he moved to her.

"Do I know you?" He questioned as he continued to inch closer to her. Maeyeong and Taeri watched with curious eyes. They never heard Kyungmi speak of anyone, let alone a male. Questions ran through their heads, wanting to know exactly who he was.

Kyungmi tilted her head in curiosity. "Why? Does someone else call you Little Yang?" He watched as Kyungmi raised a questioning brow.

The realization kicked in, but before he said anything he motioned for Kyungmi to tug her mask down which she did. His eyes widened in shock. "Kyungmi nuna?"

Kyungmi smiled at him, her eyes forming into crescent moons. "Hey, Jungwon-ah. It's been a while."
