"There is no way." "Is today going to be the day!?!" Voices fill my head. I'm confused and tired. I open my eyes and am blinded by light. I hear sobbing and cheers. I look at the ceiling and see tile. This is not my bedroom.
I try to sit up but am pushed down gently by a pair of hands. Where am I? "Kaylee honey, can you hear me?" A soft, shaking voice calls out. My mother. I take a deep breath... something's on my face. I nod yes to the question and reach for the unknown object. My hand is yanked back by wires I'm assuming. I look at my hand, tubes, close enough
. "How are you feeling Kaylee?" A mans voice fills my ears. "Fine I guess." I reply. "Am I in a hospital?" "Yes dear you are." My mom says ever so gently. I feel myself start to sit up, but I'm not doing it. "Don't worry, it's an automatic mattress." The man says. I'm sitting up and I can see an mixture of people. My mom and dad among many doctors and nurses. "What happened?" I ask to anyone who will answer.
Tears weld in my moms eyes. "Kaylee, do you know who I am?" Why would I not? "Of course, you're my mom. She smiles and looks relieved at my words. "Kaylee, do you remember anything that happened before you woke up?" The man from before ask. "Yes, I was at a sleepover with Miranda and Jane." I reply. The worry an fear returns to my mothers face.
My fathers eyebrows knit in confusion. "Who is that?" He ask. "My best friends." Why doesn't he remember them? I went to Miranda's house almost every weekend. The man who I assume is my doctor turns to them and explains that it was most likely figments I created in my mind wile I was asleep. Asleep. The word strikes my attention. "How long was I asleep for?" I ask intently. "Oh Kaylee..." She breaths.
"You were in a coma for two years after your accident." Now it's my turn to be confused again. "What coma, what accident!?" I panic. "She really doesn't remember." I hear a nurse whisper. The doctor places a hand on my leg. "It's quite a long story." He
