Southmuir awoke to her feet feeling moist.
It was an unusual feeling and she quickly sat up to find the source of said moistness.
There, at the end of her bed, she found her pet bird, Pole.
Southmuir sighed as she lifted her bird away from her slippery grippers. Pole had shat on her again. She hopped out of bed and went through to her en-suite bathroom. She ran the bath for a few seconds and then carefully dipped for dogs into the warm, soapy water.
She let out a sigh of relief as she tilted her head back. She loved having warm toes, just not warm and slimy with bird shit.
She quickly dried off her feet with a near by towel and got dressed into a navy blue t-shirt and large denim shorts.
She brushed through her tangled, blonde hair and then braided it carefully as she headed downstairs for breakfast.
Downstairs, she grabbed a bowl from the cupboard and stood on her top toes to try and reach the cereal on the top shelf.
She struggled for a few seconds until her older brother came slouching in.
"Can you help?" she asked, signally to the high up box.
Webster's looked up for a moment from his phone at her, then at the cereal, and then back at her.
"No." Was his belated reply.
Southmuir scowled at him for a moment before she accepted the fact that she'd just have to go hungry this morning.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake.
Very violently.
Southmuir and Webster's dove underneath the kitchen table and sat huddled, waiting for the tectonic plates to stop having mood swings.
That was when it all kicked off.
First, the whole roof of the house came flying off, as though it had been ripped away by a giant.
Then, a shiny helicopter came buzzing overhead and started blaring We The #legends by the Norris Nuts.
Then finally, a long metal rope with a claw attached to the end of it came whirring down form the aircraft and snatched Southmuir up.
It pulled her up into the sky, higher and higher, until she was in the helicopter.
She was dazed by the quickness of it all for a moment and then slowly looked around the helicopter.
Every single Norris Nut was staring at her with unblinking eyes. A wide grin on each of their faces.
"What the fuck." Was the only thing she could think to say.
