As I placed my last box in the moving van my mind starts to ponder about what my new life in Chapel Hill, a small little rinky-dink town where I was to live for the next four years of my boring teen-age life. Our new house is right off of town, or so I'm told. It was the end of the summer so I would be starting my freshman year at the unknown Chapel Hill High. I got situated in the car and slept as we drove to our soon to be new home.
Suddenly Troy, my older brother, was jostling me awake as we pulled into a dirt driveway. I placed my eyes upon our newly refurbished two-story house. My mother, Kelly, automatically started unpacking. Troy and I started helping our farther, Trevor, move the furniture into the house.
Later that night after dinner I went for a walk around town. I was on my way past a massive building that looked like it would be the town's general store. Suddenly I look up and set my eyes upon a dazzling blonde headed angel emerging from inside the store. She noticed me gawking at her and she suddenly raises her hand and beckoned me over to her.
I came up to her and bashfully said "Hello!"
She acted in response by saying "Hi, my name is Sara Smith. Are you new to town?"
"My family just moved into the refurbished house right off of town."
A tall dark haired guy approached us and puts his arm around the angel's waist; she greets him with a peck on the lips.
Suddenly she burst out "Oh! This is my boyfriend, Travis Johnston."
Travis extended his hand and I accepted his out reached hand.
"Hi, I'm Shawn Taylor."
"Well it's a pleasure to meet you but Sara and I have a prier commitment that we can not be late to. So see you later Shawn."
They turned and started to stroll away. Sara hollered over her shoulder " I'll see you at school Monday!"
"Okay, see yeah!"
I continued my promenade through this unknown town, as the terrifying thought of tomorrow lingered in my mind. When I at last returned home and went straight to my brother's room. I sat next to him on his bed; I let the entire story pour out of me word for word and action for action. We had this discussion for about an hour and then finally turned in.
The next morning I walked into this unknown territory where there was a pool of unknown faces, I hunt for the one and only face that could take my breath away. At last I spotted the angel across the parking lot. I continued on my way to the double doors and right prior to reaching the threshold I felt a feather like hand on my shoulder.
"Hey stranger!"
"Oh hi Sara!"
"Shawn I know we just met yesterday but can I ask you something?"
"Of course. What is it?"
"I was wondering if you would like to hang out after school." "What about Travis?"
"We got into an fight and I need some breathing room. Plus I can have guys that are my friends."
"I'm sorry I got to personal. So, we're friends?"
"Obviously we are. What would make you believe otherwise?"
"Nothing; but to answer your other question, yes, I would like to hang out with you."
"Great! What's your first class?"
"English."
"Good we have the same class. That means we can keep chatting."
"You're my first friend in this peculiar little town. I hop my brother is doing better with the transition than I am."
"Who is your brother?" She asked as we started walking.
"Troy Taylor. He's a senior."
"I've heard of him. I bet your brother doesn't look as handsome as you though." She said with a teasing smile.
All I could do was smile stupidly.
Finally she popped a question: "So after school can I ride home with you?" "Sure, I catch a ride with my brother. So you can meet us out front."
"Okay I guess, but why do I need to meet you outside? We have the same eighth period together. Don't we?"
As she asked she took my schedule out of my hand and sure enough we both have the same Biology class eighth period.
"Fine we can walk together."
We made it to our class and taken seats beside each other. Our whole schedule was the identical except three classes. Which were Athletics (5th), Technology (6th), and World Geography (7th). The day passed slowly when I wasn't at Sara's side. I excitedly strolled to my Biology class, my heart fluttered at the sight of Sara sitting all alone at a lab table across the room. She waved me over just as she did the first day we met. I quickly took my seat and we started a conversation. All during class she kept catching me staring at her.
Ten minutes before the bell was going to sound she slid me a piece of paper that said:
I can't wait to see your brother so I can prove my prediction.
I'm glad you told me how handsome I am. Maybe I'll have to tell you how pretty I think you are.
Maybe you should do that!
I will later at the house. I want to say it in person.
The bell sounded as she folded the paper and put it into her bag; I waited on Sara. As we made it to the truck I told Troy to keep his mouth shut about what I had said the night before. We got into the red double cab truck, which I also knew as my brother's pride and joy.
Sara and I were happily sitting in the kitchen at the table doing our homework when my mom made a sudden appearance. My mom decides to come in at the moment when I am leaning over Sara while explaining an Algebra problem. Sara didn't notice her until she suddenly jerked open the refrigerator door. Our heads popped up simultaneously.
"Mom this is Sara, Sara this is my mom."
"Hello Mrs. Taylor. You have a beautiful home here."
"Well thank you. Sara will you be staying for dinner?"
"Mom, I don't think -"
"I would love to stay for dinner."
An hour later dinner was prepared and the table was set.
After dinner Sara and I went for a walk by a creek.
"So you were going to tell me how pretty I am weren't you?"
"I wanted to tell you that you're as beautiful as the sunset on a cold summer night. Your so breath taking beautiful that there is nothing in this world that can compare to you."
Sara stopped in her tracks and suddenly turned to me as she said "Shawn, I know this is going to sound stupid but you're the only guy that has ever said that to me. My own boyfriend hasn't even been sweet enough to tell me that. But you, a total stranger sees me and turns my world around. All I want to do is thank you."
"Your welcome. If you want my opinion I don't think Travis deserves you if he can't tell you how beautiful you are on a regular bases."
"Maybe your right. Thank you."
"What did I do this time to get you to thank me?"
"For being the most caring boy I have ever met and helping me see that I'm in a dreadful situation."
"Your welcome and I'm glad I could help."
Later after dessert I walked Sara home and met her parents.
