"Is a bagel enough for breakfast?" You asked nobody in particular.
"Ah whatever." You said, biting down on it and leaving the apartment with it hanging out of your mouth. You thought a lot about whether things were good for you, and not just food either. Not that it mattered, you usually just did whatever it was anyways.Walking out the door, you decided that you would take your bike today, why not give yourself an active reputation in your new job-to-be! Down the stairs you went, wondering if this was a stupid idea, and you just should've taken that job at the convenience store. Hopping on your bike, you begin to pedal in the direction of "The Firehouse".

"I don't have an appointment. I'd like to talk to someone, please." Dana Barret, the client told Janine. As soon as he heard this, Peter sprinted over from his office.
"May I help you?" He asked, obviously interested in her.
"Well, I don't know. What I'm about to say may seem a bit unusual." Dana answered.
________________"This place looks like it should be condemned." Is your first thought. Before you could knock on the door, some guys walked out out, arguing back and forth.
"All I'm saying is that since shes out first customer, we should give her a discount!"
"Peter you cant say that about every girl that comes in!"
"Hey how do you know that I will?"
You were starting to get bored so you made yourself known by clearing your throat.
"Hello boys, Im here for a job interview? I am Y/N, I spoke with a very nice woman over the phone, and-"
"You're hired!" One of them said, (whom you assumed was Peter).
"Now Peter-"
Yup.
"We need to do an interview, we haven't even talked to Spengler about this yet.""Well why? We've gotta get help, and you know that Raymond."
"Lets just do it, alright?" You but in.
"I'm sorry that sounded rude, I just meant that I'd love to get started as soon as possible." You added, mainly to save your butt after your last comment.
"Enthusiasm, I love it!"
The other guy, (Raymond?) Said, gesturing twords the door for you. You could hear Peter mumble, "Cause I'm girl crazy, Ray." back. You walked inside and smelt an odd smell, like must and rust?
"Yup, definitely should be condemned." You mumbled aloud.
"That's what I said," spoke a new voice from behind you.
"Gah! Oh! Hello!" You squeaked. He had scared you!
"Hello, are you the new recruit?" He asked rather quick.
"Yes! My name is Y/N L/N!" You responded.
"Dr. Egon Spengler, scientist and parapsychologist of the paranormal studies." He said, almost like he had rehearsed it in the mirror.
"Ah Spengs! I see you've met Y/N?" Ray said happily. "We should do an interview, before Peter drives her away." He said, with his hand over his mouth as if to tell a secret, but making no effort to lower his voice.
"Right here, I am right here." Peter spoke, obviously feigning offense.
"Yes, that's a good idea, take her upstairs." Egon told Ray.
"What am I, chopped liver aye?" Peter said in a heavy New York accent. Ray shoo'd him away with a hand gesture, and then spoke again.
"Right this way!"
You followed him up the steps and sat down on a stool.___________________
It had been forever, and you were getting bored, but at least your chair was spinny, and you had found a black pen in the floor which you were now using to tattoo yourself. All of a sudden, you heard two people running up the steps.
"So sorry kitten!" Peter said.
"We got caught up with our client, she is on her way so lets make this snappy." Egon added.________________
"Do you believe in UFO's astral projection, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trans-mediums, The Loch Ness Monster, and The Theory of Atlantis?" Janine asked you
'You answer her with whatever you believe'.
"Great, you're hired." She spoke, sounding honestly rather bored.
"Oh really? Cool!"
"The guys usually sleep here, so feel free to stay nights whenever you need, welcome to the team." She said with sad jazz hands.
"Thank you!" You say with a smile.____________________
"And this voice said 'Zuul', and then I slammed the refrigerator door, and left. That was two days ago, and I haven't been back to my apartment." Dana said, hooked up to a machine.
"Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance. What do you think it was?" Peter asked.
"Well, if I knew what it was I wouldn't be here." Dana answered.
"Egon, what do you think?"
Egon, who was busy shining a headlamp into Peter's eyes, answered,"She's selling the truth. at least, she thinks she is."
"Well of course I'm telling the truth! Who would make up a story like that?"
"Some people who just want attention. Others, just nutballs who come in off the street" Peter answered normally, as if it were a usual everyday thing.
"You know what it could be? Past-life experiences intruding on present time." Ray put. Egon seemed to think of something,
"Could be erased memories stored in the collective unconscious. I wouldn't rule out clairvoyance or telepathic contact, either." He said.
"I'm sorry, I don't believe in any of those things." Dana said.
"Well, that's all right. I don't either. But there are some things we do. Standard procedures we can carry out in a case like this which often bring us results." Peter said.
"Well, I can go down to the hall of records and check out the structural details in the building. Maybe the building itself has a history of psychic turbulence." Peter nodded.
"Right, go do that."
"I could look for the name Zuul in the usual literature."
Egon said.
"Spates catalog." Ray added.
"Tobin's Spirit Guide" Egon put. Ray just gave a yeah.
"Tell you what, I'll take Miss Barrett back to her apartment and check her out, I mean I'll go check out my spirits apartment, okay?"
"Okay, thank you." Dana ended.________________________
Returning from your house with the stuff you had wanted, you prepared to spend all night researching on spooks and spirits. All you needed was Tobin's Spirit Guide from Egon. He was the only person you knew who had a copy, and the Library had it out of stock. Making your way to the lab, you pondered how you would ask him. Once you got up there, he immediately noticed your presence.
"Can I help you?" He spoke quietly.
"Yeah, actually," You started. "Could I possibly borrow your copy of Tobin's Spirit Guide?" You asked.
"Yeah sure, let me just go get it. What do you need it for? I'm only asking because I haven't heard of anyone specifically looking for the book in at least a decade." He said. "Yeah, I just thought I might as well study the Paranormal to get used to all this stuff, you know?" You stated. He nodded, and started again, "It's just right over here," he said pointing to a cabinet. "Here you go." He said, handing you the book. Your hands brushed against one another when you went to grab it, and for some reason, you both seemed to linger there. Clearing his throat, Egon pulled away, and you could've sworn you saw his eyes dart to your mouth, then quickly move back up to your eyes.
"Just return it to me when you're finished, also, its a library book, so just please see that it gets back to me undamaged." He said quickly. If course he was the one who took it out. *Mental facepalm*
"Yes, of course. Thank you, Egon." You said, taking your leave and giving a small wave. He returned it. You walked downstairs, and got comfy at your desk for a long night of studying.________________
