Run, go, go is all that was running through my head as I ran through what looked to be the woods. The woods back home? Go it's behind you go, I heard my voice ring out in my head. Not giving me time to process anything. Out of nowhere a monster jumped in my face, the same monster from the dark woods. Waleran, where's Waleran, opening its mouth the monster closed in on me. Nooooo! I screamed.

Jumping up I looked around. Breathing hard I was expecting to see that monster, only when I focused on what I was seeing did I notice I was back in the bedroom. How did I get here? I thought looking around confused. Last I remembered I was in the woods then I was trapped by the tree and that monster. Then everything goes blank, now I wake up back inside Waleran quarters. Was it all a dream? I thought as I lifted up the covers to take a look at myself when I heard the door knob jiggle.

Dropping the covers I looked around for somewhere to hide. I didn't know who was coming through that door. Before I could move Waleran walked in. Making me breath a sigh of relief. I was shook, I couldn't remember most of what happened other than that monster having me. Walking over to me Waleran sat on the side of the bed just looking at me.

"How are you feeling?" He questioned, moving closer to me.

"O-okay" I said dryly my throat was burning just trying to talk.

Waleran must have noticed, getting up he poured me a glass of water before handing it to me taking his seat back on the bed. I barely got a sip before I lost grip of the glass. Damn, what's wrong with my hands?

"Do you remember anything?" He questioned.

I didn't remember much, other than running through the woods and that monster. The coldness of its skin and the stench of its breath.

"Not really. I remember a monster chasing me but that's it. How did I get here?" I asked

"I found you and brought you back. Don't ever go into the woods alone. Do you hear me?" He said scolding me.

"How did you find me? I was stuck something had me an-" I started.

"You're here now that's all that matters." he said cutting me off.

I nodded because that was true. He found me, when he could've left me there to die. Here I was thinking he didn't care yet he found me. How he did it really didn't matter, I was just happy to be alive. It has been a few months since I saw my family. I was finally facing the reality of that. I wasn't going home. I could tell a lot of time had passed just by looking at Waleran. His hair on his face and head was much longer as if he didn't even bother grooming himself.

"How long has it been?" I questioned unable to stop myself from asking questions.

"A year." He answered lowly.

"Come again? It's been how long?" I asked. My ears had to be deceiving me. No way a whole year has gone by.

"Anita I would not lie about something like this." He said looking me in my eyes as he said it.

If I didn't know any better I would say he had something on his mind. The way his eyes studied me made me a little uneasy. He was looking at me as if he was puzzled about something.

"That long? I'm not hurt badly am I. I don't feel any different" I asked lifting the covers examining myself again. I wiggled my toes to make sure my legs still worked.

"You're fine outside of the obvious memory loss, you are the same. I'm sorry I couldn't get there in time. You are my mate and I'm supposed to protect you. It won't happen again" he said looking me in my eyes. I believed every word out of his mouth.
