the numbness is a feeling you never get used to
it's an empty hole in your chest
a cinder block weighing down your spirit
weights laying on your heart
the lump in your throat that is more than an unwanted visitor in your body
the numbness is lonely. it's cold. it's painful
but it's safe
it's arms wrapped around you saying "you like it here, don't you?"
it's the devil on both of your shoulders whispering to just let them leave. make them leave.
it's self isolation
it's self sabotage
it's knowing what it wants not what you want but not caring enough to fight it
it swallows you whole
it captivates you and soon you can't escape
you can't? or you don't want to?
I don't quite know yet.
