I'm taking Tony to the Anglesey Sea Zoo. It's not far down the island and they have all sorts of interesting stuff there, including a load of sea turtles native to the UK, such as the Leatherback, Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill, Kemp's Ridley and the red eared terrapin. I don't think many people expect that so it's always cool.
I pull up in the car park and kiss Tony briefly before we go in. I pay for us both, despite Tony's protests, and we spend a couple of hours looking at all the different species in there. It's early afternoon when we leave and I drive us to Beaumaris for fish and chips and a wander around the castle and the pier. If we are lucky we might see a dolphin, as they've been sighted here regularly. Tony hasn't had British fish and chips before and looks at the huge portion he's handed with wide eyes. I laugh as I take his hand and we walk down the pier to eat our lunch and watch the sailing boats coming in and out. Then we make the short walk to the castle and wander around the grounds for a bit. There's a play area just outside and I run to it so I can go on the swings. Yeah, I'm a big kid. Do I look bothered? No. Tony takes a photo of me as I'm swinging, my hair flowing behind me and me laughing. I jump off from really high up and land right in front of him where I promptly kiss him quickly and grab his hand to go back to the car. It's still not late so I wonder what we can do next. I want to show him so much before he goes back in a couple of weeks.
It's suddenly gone a lot cooler and the sky turns an ominous shade of grey. Looks like rain. At least we're in the car already so I switch the wipers on and drive us home. We get soaked running into the house and I'm shivering now so we go up to my room to dry off and change. I take our wet clothes and any other dirty ones and stick them in the washer after we've changed and go back to my room, where I left Tony lying in my bed to warm up. I crawl under the quilt with him and he pulls me into his arms, kissing my forehead in that adorable way of his. I stroke his cheek and sigh a contented happy sigh as we cuddle together.
I wake up the next morning, hungrier than I've ever been. We slept straight through dinner, the jet lag finally catching up. I wander down the stairs and into the kitchen to make coffee and omelettes for us both and my mam is in there.
"Good morning" I say as I hug her.
"Have you seen Charlie? I've lost her" she mumbles. She's having a bad day then. I take her hand and lead her to the table.
"I'm sure she'll be back soon. Do you want a cup of tea?"
"Yes please dear."
I make her a cup of tea and get to work cooking our omelettes, watching my mam the whole time. She tries pouring salt into her tea but I stop her in time, passing her the sugar. She smiles up at me.
"You look like Charlie. Do you know where she is?"
"I'm sure she won't be long" I say, hoping to put her mind at ease. She nods.
"She's such a beautiful girl you know. She's got a boyfriend now. I met him once. He's rather sweet." I smile to myself and give her a hug, wanting to tell her how much I love her but not wanting to confuse her. I'm not sure where my dad is and I don't really want to leave her alone incase she has an accident so I tell her I'll be right back and run up to get Tony to come down to eat. Much safer I suspect.
As I arrive back in the kitchen, my mam smiles.
"There you are Charlie. Someone was just here who looked exactly like you. She said you wouldn't be long."
"I'm here now mam" I whisper as I wrap my arms around her for a hug. I wish I could make her well again but sadly, I don't think that will happen.
