Episode 10: Cover 2: days gone by

The moment the bell rang at the end of class the next day, the five boys scrambled out of their classrooms as quickly as they could. Beomgyu and Yeonjun rushed to their lockers, grabbed their instruments, and headed to the music hall.

To their surprise, Soobin was already there with Kai, who was helping the older wheel all the drums out of the closet.

"Hey guys!" Yeonjun greeted happily.

"Hey, how was class?" Soobin asked.

"Boring lol."

"I get that."

"Where's Taehyun?" Beomgyu questioned.

"He's getting water bottles for all of us," Kai responded.

"Ah, that's nice of him."

"Knowing him, he might bring extra."

"Like what?"

The door opened and Beomgyu's question was answered.

"Who's hungry?!" Taehyun exclaimed, holding, or rather, waving two packs of popcorn and Cheetos in his hands.

"Definitely me!" Yeonjun yelled out of happiness, dashing over to Taehyun to grab the popcorn. "Thank you much Taehyunie!"

"No prob Hyung!"

Soobin placed down the last drum and wiped the sweat off his face.

"Well, I guess a little snack before practice wouldn't hurt."

So the boys settled down on the stage, sitting crisscross while sipping on the water and munching on their snacks.

However, as much as it meant to be a break, the boys were discussing what to do with their cover.

"Okay, who here does NOT know how to play or sing days gone by?" Beomgyu asked.

Yeonjun sheepishly raised his hand.

"That I know. But what about you, Soobin and Kai?"

"I know how to play it, but I still need sheet music to guide myself," Kai replied.

"I think I have most of it down, but yeah, I also need sheet music."

"Taehyun?"

"I know the lyrics, but..."

"But what?" Yeonjun asked.

"I gotta admit, that song is also really difficult to sing."

"We'll split the parts amongst ourselves again, okay?" Beomgyu said.

"And I'm sure you'll nail it; I trust you," Kai tried to reassure him.

Taehyun still wasn't convinced, but he decided to not say anything after that (which didn't go unnoticed by one person, but that's for another episode).

"Speaking of sheet music."

Beomgyu leaned over to the edge of the stage to grab his bag, and pulled a folder out of it.

"I went online and found all the necessary sheet music, so I hope it won't be too challenging for us."

"Me too," Yeonjun piped.

Beomgyu handed the bass notes to him, the drum beats to Soobin, the piano music to Kai, and kept the sheet music for the e-guitar for himself.

"Taehyun, you're 100% sure you know the lyrics? I have an extra piece of paper with the song text written on it?"

The younger nodded.

"I'm sure."

Mostly.

Yeonjun clapped his hands.
