The day the sun went black

I woke up to the sound of an argument going on downstairs. Ugh, can they just shut up? It's still dark out, and I want to sleep. I flip over and try to go back to sleep. I'm about to doze off when I hear my door slam open. "JACOB, GET UP!" Arc shined his phone's flashlight on me. "Arc, It's like...I don't know, but it's super early. Let me sleep." I turn my head to look at him. "No, it's twelve in the afternoon." My brother taps on the frame of my door. "Haha, really funny, like I'm going to fall for that one. Just leave and let me sleep." I sink into my bed. "fine, look at your phone then." He crossed his arms. "If you insist." I reach over to my end table and grab my phone. I was hoping this was some practical joke, that wasn't the case. I turned on my phone and, of course, the light blinded me. So, I turned the brightness and saw that it really was twelve. "Oh my god! you weren't joking." I threw my blankets off and got out of bed. "Why would I?" He started walking out. I grabbed my phone and I threw on a hoodie because it was cold in the house. "Are mom and dad up yet? Do they even know what's going on?" I dashed downstairs, my hand skimming the white railing. "They're not here." Arc quickly followed behind me. I stopped just before the entrance of the living room and looked at my brother behind me. "...What do you mean?" I started to panic. "Both John and I looked everywhere in the house, they weren't anywhere. It's like they just disappeared." Arc went into the living room. "there wasn't any sign of them leaving? They just...disappeared?" I followed behind Arc trying to wrap my head around what was going on. Why is it so dark out, and yet It's twelve-thirty? Where are mom and dad? "That's what I said wasn't it?" Arc sat down on the couch. It was tan and super comfy. "why are all the lights off in the house?" I went over to the living room light switch. "we don't have any power." John came out of basically nowhere, scaring the living shit out of me. "Jesus Christ! Don't scare me like that! I'm already freaking out enough as it is." I walked over to the couch and sat on it. John came over and sat next to me, pulling out his phone to look at something. "so did you try the TV?" I stood up and went to the TV. "well, no, but it doesn't matter because we don't have power" I heard John's phone start to ring. Who was he calling? Doesn't matter I just need to see if we at least have power to the TV. I press the power button and was blinded by a bright white screen of what type of TV it was. I readjusted my eyesight and turned on the news. "riots break after the sun disappears. stay in your house and make sure your windows and doors are locked. Stay safe out there, and may God be with you all." And just like that, the power turns off to the TV. "I..." I hesitated before turning around. "We need to make sure all the doors and windows are boarded up" I walked over to our supply closet and got out all of our wooden planks.

"And this should be the last one" John Hammered a nail into the plank. well, that took...longer than it probably could've. Oh well, at least we'll be safe here until rescue comes...if they ever will come. I sat down on the couch and let out a sigh, all of this just came out of nowhere...I feel...weird and I'm not sure if this is a dream or not. where did the sun go? where are my parents? I don't know! And that's the problem, I want to know what's going on. I grab my phone out of my pocket and check my messages. Nothing...really thought my phone would be blowing up with texts from everyone seeing if I was okay. Oh right, no cell service that's why. I put my phone away and laid down on the couch, trying to calm myself. "I think I'm gonna take a nap, please try not to be too loud." I roll to where my back was facing outwards. "Okay, I think it's best we keep quiet for a while." John had noticeably lowered his voice. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep, but the eerieness of the silence of the house and the faint sound of the tornado sirens made it so I couldn't. I sat there just trying to get in a little sleep before we had to deal with another thing. Whether it's a person trying to break in, or one of us gets injured. I finally was about to doze off when I heard the Twitter notification. "UGH! I was just about to doze off too." I pull my phone and look at the tweet. 'I can hear the tornado sirens in the next county over, but the weather radar is clear.' Wait hold on let me check something. I exit twitter and open up the weather radar. The radar says it's a sunny and clear day. "yeah super friggin sunny, totally" I open up Twitter and look at the tweet again. I hadn't noticed it before but the account made two other tweets. One at Nine-twenty-four and another one at ten-forty-four. The account name was TheSunVanished...why would you make an account and name it that? It's whatever I don't care anyway, the world is literally ending as we speak.
