The splashing of waves could be heard throughout as they crashed against the rocks. The air smelled of nothing other than salt and a whisk of lavender. A few birds could be heard overhead as a flock flew by, migrating for the change of the season. It was windy for what seemed a beautiful day.
Saithe found herself walking on the endless rock of the beach, her shoes making a crunching sound every step she took. She was wearing a pale orange dress that had the top fitting like a corset. She didn't know why she was here, or if she should be. Everything felt so real, too real for a place she had never even seen.
After walking forward endlessly, she noticed a figure in the distance. Saithe felt a pull in her heart, she was meant to be in this moment. Her pace quickened as she approached the silhouette. Getting closer, the person revealed to be a woman, seemingly around her thirty's. The woman wore a long golden dress, her hair the color of a dying ember. She was looking out towards the ocean with a look unreadable to anyone but herself. There was a silent grace about her that felt as if it surrounded even those who just stood around her.
Reaching a verdict that this woman called to her, Saithe made her way to stand beside her. The lady smelled of pine wood and honey mixed together. They stood in silence for a moment while Saithe anxiously peered at the woman who had not yet move. "The tides are turning." The lady finally spoke. Her voice seemed to float from her lips with tranquility. "What do you mean?" Saithe asked in response, looking to see if she could find anything interesting in the direction the stranger was looking. "Castles are crumbling without a single worry from any of the fallen. Soon the time of action will pass before it has even begun." The woman only spoke in riddles to Saithe's listening ears. She had no way of deciphering if there was an underlying meaning or if this was all something her brain was making up for her own torture. "Why am I here?" Saithe turned to look at the lady. A few seconds passed with no reply, when the woman faced towards Saithe finally. Her golden eyes bore into Saithe's, it suddenly felt as if she wanted to confess every sin she had ever committed to this woman at the very minute. "Heed my warning, the time will come where all nonsense becomes your only solidity. Friend or foe will become a fine line and power will be all that beckons to you as well as your doom. Be prepared for the challenges you will have to face and the trials to keep what you hold onto." Saithe could feel her breath hitch and unease fill her stomach. "Your choices will matter from here on out. I put my luck on your shoulders." The woman finished, and a distant humming began to fill the air. Saithe made it out after a moment, a lullaby.
The lady faced towards the ocean once more. The air began the darken and grow thicker, the sea lashed out at the land, and the lullaby grew taunting. With fear caught in her throat, Saithe looked where the lady was. Thunder boomed within the sky as what looked like horses raced on top of the sea towards them. "You must go prepare. Until you need me again." The lady's voice faded out as she spoke, it only turning to a whisper in Saithe's ear when everything else faded with it.
