CH 14 Family is Family

I grab Adrain's hand to calm my nerves but he has to release it all to quickly when he shifts gears. I look out the window as the scenery passes by on the way to Craig's to meet my mom for our dreaded dinner. I have a million reasons to be nervous. I'm not even out to my mom but I told her I was bringing Adrain and we had news.

I hope she doesn't take it as bad as my pops. In the silence of the car I can't help but replay the conversation. He was pissed to say the least. All he did was berate me about age like he has any room to judge. He is such a hypocrite. It got worse though my pops actually asked me if I was doing drugs. He honestly thought Adrain was such bad influence I had to be doing something bad. That's about when I told him not to expect me home for a while and ended the phone call.

Adrain brings me out of my musings."Mika are you ready." I look up to see we are in the parking lot so I still myself and get out of the car. I grab Adrain's hand and take deep breaths as we walk into the restaurant and up to the hostess. "We have a reservation for three under Alexandrov." The waitress a pretty brunette gives Adrain a once over and smiles a little to brightly at him even though we are holding hands. "Right this way gentlemen your other party is waiting." I swear she never take her eyes off of Adrain.

I let go of Adrain's hand and he gives me a look but I shake my head and he drops it. We walk up to my mothers table and she stands and hugs and kisses my cheek. "Aw my baby it feels like I haven't seen you in forever. Sit Sit."

Adrain and I both sit across from my mom and I look at her. "Mom this is Adrain my... my boyfriend. Adrain this is my mother Miranda." My mom eyes Adrain. "Hello Adrain it's nice to meet you." I look at my mom shocked. "Mom did you not hear me he is my boyfriend as in my partner."

My mom waves a dismissive hand at me. "Oh honey I'm your mother I have known you were gay since you were thirteen. I'm just glad you finally admitted it and more importantly Adrain do you have a big family?"

Adrain looks at my mom. "Yes I have three brothers and a dozen cousins and aunt and uncles so yes I have a rather big family." My mom gets a sour look on her face. "Are you close to them Adrain?"

Adrain looks at me for help and I just shrug my shoulders. "Well I guess you can say we are a close family but I'm kind of the black sheep so I keep to myself."

My mom smiles at Adrain."That's wonderful I do not want to be competing with another family over holidays with my son I already loose so much time to Nikolaus so you guys will be spending holidays with me. Now that is settled I want to tell you my good news. Matt and I are expecting."

I look at my mom. "A baby?" My mom laughs. "Of course honey I'm three months along so we will find out in a month if you will have a baby brother or sister We are very excited I have been wanting another child for some time dear."

I look at Adrain like what the fuck is going on here. I glare at Adrain when I see him trying not to laugh and look back to my mom. "Well that's nice congratulations mom?"

My mom cracks a smile. "Oh honey don't worry you always be my baby."

I swear I zone out the rest of dinner I don't even remember ordering much less what my food tasted like. I do know my mother and Adrain talked most of dinner and I think I answered a few questions but I can't be sure. A sibling I use to want a little brother when I was kid. I use to beg my mom to give me one now I'm just really confused.
