Let me just tell you first off, being a princess is not easy. First off you have to have proper manners and respect everyone around you including your parents. Well, I say screw that. I lay on my twin sized bed, covered in my black covers writing in my pink and black Avril Lavigne diary. My black eye liner was coated on heavy today and my big green eyes sparkled with mischief. I licked my dry lips, running over the cracks as I tapped my pen on the side of the book. I didn't know what to write about today but it was something I did everyday. Writing in my journal was something that took my mind off things and relaxed me of my stressful duties. My rolling stones tank was slung lazily over one shoulder while the other side kept sliding off. As I lifted me head up, my little silver hoops dangled against my cheeks glinting in the fresh sunlight. I craned my neck to look out the window. Nothing new I sighed. I decided to get up as there was nothing I could really do at the moment. For a second I took a deep breath and paused as I looked down at my black skinny jeans thinking about my day. Ok, first thing I usually kick my feet up at the breakfast table and read either Twilight or Vampire Diaries. Next I take my black Harley out into town and greet my boyfriend and then I usually come home and lazily do nothing or listen to music. Today was different though, somehow I sensed that.
Lucy should just be finding that prank right about....NOW. I tip toed over to my window balancing the latch on the tip of my finger. I was always playing pranks on her because it seemed that she always wanted to ground me because I wasn't a "good" princess. My thoughts were briefly interrupted when I heard a screeching noise half way down the winding staircase.
"JUULLIAAAAA!!!"
Hearing my name was not a good thing I thought. Underneath all my boredom I could feel my lips curling up into the form of a smile. Maybe Lucy found the prank uncool I thought grinning. Time for more lecturing!
In a few seconds worth of time, she was up the stairs and in my room her face a combination of sorrow and pain. Her face was a mess. It was all scrunched up and she had black stray marks of makeup smeared everywhere and her eyes were very swollen and red. That's when she held it up. Her wedding dress...
Great, I thought leaning against the wall. I could hear her growing angrier every time I looked at her face. But I had to admit, it WAS funny at the time but looking at Lucy just made me cringe. I had taken a pair of baby scissors and trimmed up her dress making it into a baby hat. The remains just looked like pieces of a curtain. Whoops I thought pressing harder against the wall. Maybe I won't be forgiven for this one..
My green eyes slipped her gaze. I looked at her and locked her eyes mouthing a sorry. She looked at me giving me a dirty look. My REAL mom had never hit me in my life. Nor would I think Lucy would either. She took the palm of her hand and slapped me across my face hitting my jaw and leaving a huge red hand print. I could feel it bruising and swelling continuously. I started trembling as I slid down the wall cradling my legs to my chest.
"Damn, that's the last strike Julia take your stuff and move out! I will call a taxi for you and give you some money but that's it, your on your own!" She moved over to my bureau picking up my favorite possession, my glass pen. It had been a gift from my dad the day he died, and he had wanted me to have because it would remind me of every time we did a cross word puzzle together. We did the puzzle every morning at 7 am every morning and my mom, my REAL mom would give me these beautiful french braids down my back. But things changed when he married my step-mom. Lucy. She was my living nightmare and she took advantage of my dad and his money. She didn't even care that much when she had heard he had gotten in a car accident and died..
"Give that back NOW Lucy, if you don't I will seriously kill you!" She looked at me laughing. I watched intently as she twirled it around in her fingers. I saw her literally laugh as she chucked it out the window.
"You want it Julia, GO AND GET IT!"
I sprinted over to the window as I tried desperately to catch the pen, but it slipped out of my fingers landing on the ground below the castle and breaking into millions of little glass shards. Before it fell I thought I had saw a vision of me and my father. I was sitting on his lap smiling, my black curly hair bouncing off my shoulders as I laughed my face full of joy and happiness. And then it was gone. My whole body was shaking, trembling, stumbling. I bit my lip as I tasted that now coppery liquid following into my mouth. Blood. I looked at my hands depressed as I tried to search them, try and look them over to imagine that pen. But all I saw was my bare skin and the soft lines running through my palms.
I fell to the floor clinging onto my tank top for dear relief. My tears fell to the floor creating little puddles of reflections. As i looked down into one tear drop I saw the face of a girl who felt by herself, nobody there to protect her anymore. I looked up and saw Julia smile and laugh calling me some name as she turned and left leaving me completely and utterly alone.
