"Alright girls we're done for the day" Our band manager Alex said. I take off my head phones and place my guitar back on its stand. "Hey Peyton want to go out for lunch with us?" one of my bandmates Lauren asks. I look over at her and Kayla smiling. "Sure let's go" I say grabbing my bag and heading out of the recording booth with them behind me. "Oh girls before you head out I got some news for you" Alex says. "What's that?" Kayla asks. "I'm talking to management about getting you girls to do a world tour. Do you think you are ready for that?" He asks. "Hell yeah we're ready for it. As much as I love London I want to travel around and see new things" I say the girls agreeing with me. "Great. I'll keep you posted" He says and starts tapping away at his phone. The girls and I head out to lunch at our favorite cafe. We all sit down and order. Lauren and Kayla are chatting about while I'm lost in my head. Everything finally seems to becoming together but I can't shake the feeling that something is missing in my life. It's like I'm missing a part of me but I have no idea what that part could be.
"Peyton! Peyton Taylor! Earth to Peyton!" I feel something hit my face causing me to break out of my thoughts and look at my two best friends. "What?" I ask. "Where'd you go there Tay?" Lauren asks calling me by my middle name. Lauren is the only one that is aloud to call me Taylor or any nickname for my middle name without me yelling at her. It's not that I hate my middle name I just don't like being called by it. "Just thinking" I tell her looking into her green eyes. I can tell she doesn't believe me but she leaves it alone. "Well know we're here for you always" she says. I smile and place my hand over hers from across the table. "I know you guys are. It's nothing really. If it was something to worry about you know I'd tell you. I'm not closed off anymore like how I was two years ago. I'm seventeen, living my dream with my two best friends. What more could I ask for?" I state.
"A girlfriend" Kayla says playfully. I look over at her and smile. "Yeah a girlfriend. But what's the point? Every girl I've ever been with was only with me because of my fame and my money. Unless you can magically find the right girl for me. I'd rather stay single" I tell her. Lauren and Kayla look at each other like they just formed the same plan in their heads. Oh no. I look at the time and notice it's getting late. "Well I'm going to head home, it's getting late and I'm tired from recording all day. Do you guys want to stay over or need a ride home?" I ask them standing up. "You go ahead Tay, I'll come by later to check on you." Lauren says standing up and kissing my cheek. I smile.
"Alright, see you guys later." I say goodbye and head to my car. I turn on the engine and drive back to my apartment. I park my car and head inside my lonely apartment. I turn on the lights and drop my keys on the counter. I sigh. It's been two years since I moved into this apartment by myself. I came out to my parents when I was fifteen and they kicked me out. It broke my heart to see the anger on my fathers face when I told them. I was a daddy's girl. Him and I did everything together. I'll never understand how my sexuality changed everything. I'm still the same kid he raised just not attracted to boys. But that's in the past now. I live a good life now. I go into my room and change into sweats. I throw my red-brown hair up in a ponytail and head into the bathroom. I place my hands on the edge of the sink and look into the mirror. My insecurities start to get the best of me ad I shake my head taking out my contacts and putting on my glasses. I look back into the mirror and look into my hazel eyes. I sigh and brush my teeth than heading out to the living room. I sit down on the couch turning on the TV. My life seems good until I'm alone. I feel my eyes start to water as my apartment door opens and Lauren comes over to me holding me as I cry into her shoulder.
Lauren stays the night holding me as I cry myself to sleep. The next morning I wake up to the sound of shouting. I sit up rubbing the sleep from my eyes walking out of my room and out towards the door. I stop dead in my tracks staring wide eyed at the sight in front of me.
".....Dad?"
