The wrong side

Tom was afraid. He had followed Ethan Nakamura into this mess. The titans had promised him glory and a destiny. His godly father never accepted him and his mother died when he was young, following a train crash.

He wandered a few years alone through the world. But than, Ethan appeared and offered him a place. He was introduced to Kronos and joined his army. The first time, he felt that he was part of something. Than, Kronos attacked Manhattan and Tom was on one of the landing boats. But they were sunk by some gigantic dirt water fists and he barely survived. It was a miracle, that he was able to swim the short distance to the saving riverbank in his bronze armor. He had reported the disaster to Prometeus and was given new weapons.

Now, two days later, he fought between the ranks of fellow demigods against the favorites of the gods. Their flower children, their beloved. He learned to hate them. They had no respect for the old races, the Telchines and others. Yes, some were really monsters, but not all. But now he feared that all their might was not enough. A hour ago, he thought the drakon would destroy them. But the children of Ares fought it back, and the famous Clarisse killed it, without wearing armor or wielding a shield. She, and her brethren were now attacking Tom's formation and they were forced back, step by step. The children of Ares were gruesome and the most terrible was Clarisse. Tom had managed to kill one of her brothers, to defend his best friend Seamus. But Seamus was killed seconds later by the electical spear of Clarisse. She was like the death reaper. But not in black robes. No she was glowing red and all weapons glanced off of her skin. They came to a crossing and collided with retreating dracaenae.

The formation ceased to exist and the ares children came over them. Tom tried to see, why the dracaenae had come this way, and saw Perseus Jackson among them, killing the snake women left and right. He used sword and shield with equal skill, murdering through the ranks with both. Tom looked left to Fabius, who had fear written over his face and panic in his eyes. A glance to the right, to James, a nod, and the three fled. They were running away, like most others. But Clarisse and her kin followed them and slaughtered them. While Tom was running, he saw the bloodstained daughter of Ares on her chariot. Right now she decapitated Anja. Tom always liked her, she was kind but also bitter and often sad. Now her head was rammed on the tip of Clarisse's spear. He looked to Fabius and James and could only pull Fabius to the side and yell a "Watch out!" As James was trampled to death by horses and rolled over through the chariot of a son of Ares. The boy laughed and stabbed his spear into the back of a dracaena.

"Retreat! CLARISSE COME BACK! YOU HAVE FOLLOWED ENOUGH!" Tom heared a voice yell. And soon enough, the Ares children stopped their pursuit. Tom looked around, they were across the bridge. Only twenty of them had made it. Out of a hundred.

"Damn!" Fabius exclaimed. Tom only nodded. They sat there, demigods and dracaenae, and tried to catch a breath.

"What do you fools sit here around?" A sharp voice asked. They jumped to their feets. It was a demigod of Kronos personal guard. They were hated among the troops, they loved killing and destruction. The gardsman walked their ranks up and down and than yelled at a young demigod "WHERE IS YOUR SHIELD?" The boy answered weakly "I lost it." "YOU LOST IT? HOW DARE YOU!" Than he turned to them all and yelled "You will attack again! Lord Kronos ordered it! The Leistrygonians will join you!" Than he grinned evil and said "Form ranks, Those without shields, go to the front rank. That will teach you not to lose your shield." And Tom was glad, that he had not lost his shield.

The next attack was delayed due to heavy losseson all fronts. So they attacked only the next morning. The battle went well, until...  the ground shook and opened and the army of the dead marched out. Tom saw Kronos talk with Hades, but could not understand what was being said. It could not be good. As the dead started to attack Kronos forces. In the following battle, Fabius was overcome by seven dead soldiers. Stabbed to death by a roman legionary, a british redcoats, a french line fusilier, an US Marine and three others. Tom came to the aid of his friend, there was no formation left, everyone fought for the own survival, or just to live a few minutes longer. When he had freed Fabius from the dead, his friend was also dead.

Than he felt a stab in his arm pit, turned around and saw into the face of a bronze statue. He looked down to it's hand and saw a blood dripping sword. The statue looked at him with empty eyes, and slit his throat.

He opened his eyes and looked around. "Next." A voice said. He stood up to see who said it. A man with black cloak and hollow face saw him and said "No! You wait there. You have no payment. You can wait here for three days, if you got no drachmas... well off with you to the styx."

Ok, I think, it is a bit more gruesome, than I thought it would be.... Sorry.
