Death

I, Evelyn Carter detested waking up early in the morning, but today was not that day. I had barely slept last night because I knew my parents must be fighting with the rouges to protect me and our pack and I hated feeling so helpless, but I couldn't do anything as I was on lockdown in the pack house.

After relentlessly pacing across my room I was jolted back to reality when I heard a knock on our door.

I rushed to open the door but on opening the door, a sense of disappointment settled in when I realised they weren't my parents. It was our pack alpha's son James.

I looked at him with questioning eyes, but one look at his face filled with pity confirmed my suspicion. My parents didnt make it, my whole world came crashing down and before I knew it I blacked out.

The funeral passed in a haze. I don't remember drinking any liquid for the past few days and yet that didn't stop my eyes from flooding with fresh wave of tears.

My parents were one of our packs best fighters and hunters and also the beta and so to honour them a huge ceremony was conducted by the pack for all the members who had died in the attack.

I was brought back to reality when a familiar man placed his calloused hand on my shoulder.
I looked up to see that it was none other than my Dad's brother. It was shocking to see how eerily similar they looked which just made me cry more.

"Oh Eve dear, its gonna be ok" he muttered and engulfed me in a bone crushing hug as I cried into his shoulder. I think I saw a glimpse of red in his eyes but I quickly ignored it.

"Eve I need to talk to you about something, so please come back to my house. " he said with his mouth too close to my ears and then he quickly released me. I numbly nodded at him.

The funeral was conducted and every one came to me to mumble some kind of apologies but I was too exhausted to care when my only family was lying there lifeless.

Once I reached my house I collapsed under the bed and soon cried myself to sleep.
I was jolted awake by a man roughly pushing me to wake up. I rubbed my eyes to clear my blurry vision, only to see it was her uncle.

"Didn't I tell you drop by my house after this ?" He questioned, his tone laced with anger, and before I knew it I was roughly dragged away. His deathly grip on my wrist made me wince in pain which just made him hold it more tightly. The look in his eyes forbid me from asking anything.

He roughly shoved me into his car and sped off. Little did I know what fate awaited me at his house.
