When Emelie woke up the day after the Yule Ball, the sum of the events of the night before all sinked in. Cedric and Cho, leaving George by himself, her breaking a desk, and Hermione crying on the stairs

Emelie wanted to drop back into bed but she knew better than that so she got up and got dressed for the day. Since it was still chilly, she wore her Christmas sweater.

Hermione was also up and as much as Emelie didn't want to interfere she wanted to know what had bugged her last night but Hermione talked first.

"Why didn't you tell me Cedric didn't ask you to the Yule Ball?", she said, facing her. Emelie sucked in a breath.

"I....I didn't want to add worry to you. I told Harry but.... I really don't know why I kept it a secret from you". Hermione took Emelie's hand in hers.

"Emelie, I too had a small fight with Ron last night, it left me heartbroken. He didn't want me to be with Viktor. You don't have to worry about being invasive".

"Thank you, Hermione. You really are the brightest witch of your age". Hermione turned red, causing Emelie to chuckle. Just as Emelie was about to pick up her bag, Hermione held her hand out.

"You know, Emelie, I think you should talk to Cedric. I can see how much you both need each other and I can't stand to see you heartbroken. Just... try to talk to him for me, okay?".

Emelie hesitated but then nodded. Hermione smiled at her and walked out the dorm room. An idea suddenly hit Emelie and she would be destined to pursue it.

"Oh George I'm so sorry!". Emelie sat down next to him, giving him a side hug. "I left you like a lone wolf". George laughed.

"Don't worry. I know why you did.... I understand".

Emelie breathed a sigh of relief. She sat down and ate, slowly, glad George understood her problems. She had an idea, courtesy of Hermione telling her to talk to Cedric. Emelie decided she would put it into action this morning after her Charms class in her free period.

"Did you hear someone broke into the Muggle Studies classroom last night?" Seamus said suddenly. Emelie froze, almost dropping her fork.

"Really?", she asked unfazed. Seamus nodded.

"It wasn't really a break in but someone went in there. The teachers won't worry about it too much but I think that's suspicious". Emelie stopped herself from laughing. Of course Seamus thought it was suspicious. He probably thought You-Know-Who went in there.

After a couple minutes, Emelie got up, going to Charms with Fred and George. Today they'd be practicing nonverbal spells and truthfully, Emelie wanted nothing to do with it despite Charms being her favorite class.

"Today we will be practicing a non-verbal incantation called the Shield Charm that requires a great deal of effort so please follow me and try your best. You will not get it on your first try" Flitwick said as everyone entered the classroom.
