Harry had been sitting at the foot of his bed, studying the misty, silvery potion he had been brewing for Merlin knows how long. Daytime had long since passed, the white glow of the moonlight replacing the sunlight that had lit up his dormitory hours before. Is this going to work? What if I mess up? Harry fretted in his thoughts for the millionth time. You won't mess up. This is a simple potion that will answer your simple question, Harry reminded himself. You'll be fine. The silvery mist of the potion clouded up in small puffs in his face, smelling distinctly of gin and mildew. He rested his elbows on his legs and inhaled the mist. The potion wouldn't finish brewing fast enough, he thought, and let out a small sigh.
Harry nearly jumped when he heard a sharp rap on the dormitory door. No longer sighing wistfully into the brewing serum, he carefully cupped the small cauldron of truth serum and, with a quick, careful movement, pushed the cauldron underneath his bed. He hurriedly tugged his bed blankets down the side of his bed as to hide the cauldron underneath the bed. Before Harry had managed to stand up, dust his clothes lightly and attempt to act composed, Ron emerged into the room. "Oh thank fucking god, it's only you" Harry muttered with relief. "Hiding the serum again?" Ron sighed.
He, Ron and Hermione were the only students in Hogwarts who knew about Harry's potion. If you were caught brewing or giving someone truth serum, you were as good as expelled; you got a detention if you were lucky. Hermione had tried to convince Harry that he was being stupid and risking his education for this potion, but Harry had firmly insisted he wanted answers and that this potion was how he was going to get those answers. She eventually gave up on chiding harry for breaking school rules and let him make the potion, but still acted a bit uneased at the whole ordeal. Harry hadn't cared. As long as he had his lingering question answered at the end of the mission, he was indifferent to what anybody else thought of him and his idea.
"It won't brew fast enough. It's so damn annoying" Harry grumbled. "And you won't shut up about it enough." Ron exhaled. "I still can't believe that argument with Malfoy got to you. I thought you didn't care," Ron said, "But I suppose you're easier to hurt than I thought." There were a few beats of silence before Ron continued, "I just wish you would shut Malfoy's voice out, it's hurting you more than you know, Harry. I'm worried." Ron drew a deep breath, with a sliver of sadness painted in his eyes, before settling down on and leaning himself against his bed frame.
Harry didn't know how to respond to him. Everything he had just said was true, and he hated that Malfoy could manipulate his thoughts with nothing more than a snide comment about him. Harry walked over to his bed and lay down on top of his bed covers, legs crossed and eyes trained on the ceiling. He would make Draco Malfoy the most embarrassed, pathetic wimp known in existence. He would strip away every bit of his ego and security until his secrets were bare and out there for everyone to know. He would make sure Draco never hurt his feelings ever again. Harry couldn't stop the ghost of a smug smile forming on his lips as he said: "Malfoy will pay one day, Ron, and that day will be when my potion is ready." Harry saw a grin form on Ron's face when he turned his head to look at him. "I'm looking forward to it, mate."

Harry became restless. He tossed and turned, paced around the carpeted floor, observed the moon gleaming into the dormitory and sometimes even brought out the brewing serum to take notes on, but nothing eased him. All he could think about was Draco Malfoy and the argument he had endured a week ago.
Harry, Ron and Hermione had been relaxing and casually talking in the courtyards, Harry complaining about potions class and Snape, and Ron and Hermione chuckling and talking about their most hated classes. Harry had been comfortably bent against a wall, while Ron leant in a similar way beside him. Hermione had sat herself on a bench across from them, with her mounting pile of study books stacked beside her.
