Faith stood near the edge of the train platform on their phone. Their other hand was in their hoodie pocket as they scrolled, switching between Instagram and their TikTok fyp, trying to find some way to satisfy their boredom as they waited.
Faith switches to the camera and turns around to pose while snapping a picture of themselves. Turning back around they type "On my way to London <3" and post it to their story.

Faith was about to go back to TikTok when something caught their eye. Looking at their photo again they zoomed in the picture to see a blurry version of a person, clearly falling into the train tracks. Faith looks up to see people leaning over the tracks and they dash to the edge. Looking over the platform, Faith See's a child, a little girl trying to crawl out of the tracks. Faith looked around at the adults, why are they just standing there watching? Why aren't they helping her?

Faith's heart dropped as they felt the rising wind pick up signaling the oncoming train.

Without another thought Faith jumps into the tracks, bruising their knees on the way down. Faith grabs the girl by the waist, "Don't worry I got chu!" Faith lifted the girl up and she scurried onto the platform.

The winds got stronger.

Faith jumped as high as they could but their fingertips only grazed the edge of the platform. Faith looked slightly to their left and made eye contact with the girl they just saved. "Help me! Please help me!" They reach their hand out desperately towards the girl, and she bursts out laughing in their face.

The sound of the train drew near.

"Please!" Faith's rage grew as the girl looked them in the eyes and continued to laugh. With anger controlling their every move, Faith grabs the girl by the collar of her dress and yanks her into the subway tracks, the momentum from the girl's weight helps faith pull themself onto the platform. When faith turned around the first view they saw was the train coming at full speed and slicing through the girls neck. Nothing was left of her, faith watched as her tiny body was torn to shreds and the fabric from her dress flying in the air. The adults didn't say anything, none of them seemed to care enough. The only one that did was Faith.

"Oh my god." Faith stood to their feet but their knees buckled. "Oh my god!" Faith put their head in their hands as tears fell from their brown eyes. "I…I killed her, I just murdered someone!! What is wrong with me?"

Faith wept on the floor as people walked around them to board the train. A sudden thought entered their head. "Is it my fault?" Faith curtly looks up, staring into seemingly nothing but reliving the image of the dead girl over in their mind. "Is it my fault?" Whispered Faith as if they had a realization. "I was going to die..she laughed in my face as I was seconds from death..I was just trying to live, she should've helped me like I helped her…it's- it's not my fault." Faith stood up. "It's not my fault."

As if it never happened, faith was back to normal, no more guilt and no more sadness. Faith pulled out their phone and continued to scroll on Instagram while walking and taking a seat in the back of the train. They looked over the picture on their story of themself and the girl in the background. "..meh." Faith didn't care anymore.

The door of the train shuts and the train journey begins.

________________

The lights in the train power off and the train comes to a slow stop. Faith looks around and the complaints of late adults fill the air. When the lights dimly flicker on, a giant phantom appears in the center of the train, their skin was black- their everything was black, all except their red angry eyes that are staring daggers at faith. Faith instantly knew what- or who that is.

With a snap of her fingers a black sword appeared in front of Faith, and they realized they would have to fight this kid, once and for all. "Aww crap." Faith boredly mutters, stuffing their phone in their pocket while picking up the sword. With that the phantom girl disappears, the train starts building up speed, and the fight begins.

During the fight, Faith couldn't help but voice their frustrations, dramatic anime monologue style. Why are they doing this? It's not Faith's fault, faith was just being a good samaritan! Did they deserve it? Did they really deserve to be hit by a train for helping some kid? Did they deserve to fight her angry ghost-spirit thing cause faith was trying to live? So what if they killed a kid, the kid was going to kill them first!! What is this? Was this some lesson they needed to learn? Was it a metaphor? Is the kid the monster or was it Faith? Are they both monsters? Was the kid a reflection of something deep inside of Faith, maybe a part that they hated about themself?

"Are we…" Faith stopped uselessly swinging their sword and slowly turned and made eye contact with the phantom girl. "The same." Faith and the phantom said at the same time. Faith's eyes widened, she could read their thoughts.

The girl floated down to the ground and transformed into an old lady version of herself. The woman said nothing but opened her arms to faith for a hug. Even though it seems welcoming, so nice and warm, faith knew better. It was a trap.

Yet they walked forward anyway.

With each step Faith could feel death come closer and closer, even so they had no reason to fight. If they were to die now then they would die, it's as simple as that.

When faith opened their arms to hug the women, she grabbed faith by the collar and used her phantom powers to open the train door, ready to throw faith to their painful death.

Faith saw a vision, a vision of them stabbing the old woman and winning the fight. It would be easy, she's right there! But did faith really want to continue this cycle of violence? The girl's evilness bred with Faith's rage to toss the girl to her death, and that bred with the girl's gluttony for revenge. Faith didn't want this, they wanted it to stop.

Faith, powered by a determination to end it all, hugged the old woman. Trying their best to convey through their energy that they love them, and that they want to be friends and stop this. The women held still for a short while before hugging Faith back. A minute passed when they both pulled back, tears falling from the old woman's face which held a kind smile.

A true kind smile.

The lights turned on and from the ceiling descended a disco ball and flashing lights filled the train cart. Faith looked around as a whole group of ghosts appeared out of nowhere. It was the old woman's friends! They all died as well, but inspired by their friend turning good they did as well and to celebrate they threw Faith a party. A smile grows on Faith's face and they look at the old woman who was already enjoying the music and drinks. Faith felt proud of themself, they were happy that they didn't hurt the women. Faith doesn't know what would have happened if they had stabbed and killed her, but faith doesn't care, and doesn't want to find out.
