The grass was greener than ever imagined. Sun, beaming down calmly overhead.
"I.. can't believe it. After all this time.." Momo mumbled, a small pixelated tear dripping down his rainbow screen as he wore a relaxed smile on his face. "Its much more different than expected." Zbaltazar muttered, sounding amazed. "WOOOOHOOO! FREEDOMM!" Clementine shrieked with joy as she hastily ran in circles, instantly in the mood to explore. "It's such a wonder.. I.. never thought id get to see anything like this." Doc laughed cheerfully, looking towards his son who just smiled in return.
As they each looked out to the overgrown land, and the other companions grew near, a small sobbing could be heard. Momo and Clementine both spun round after recognising the small robotic voice. B-12. Doc had restored him back into his drone body after the continuous hints B-12 had left as they reached the 'clean city'.
Momo rushed over and lifted the drone into his hands, "Hey hey B-12 what's wrong?" B-12 let out a squeal, a shocked response, he slowly looked towards Momo then towards the outside, "I-I.." he hicced, "I can't believe it.. its.. b-been so long since if seen the outside.." The four outsiders let out a small gasp. "You've.. been to the outside before?!" Doc shrieked in amazement. B-12 sighed, "I came from the outside." "But us companions.. weren't we only created afterwards? Yanno. When we'd all been locked in the city with the soft ones?" Clementine said in confusions.
There was a silence.
"I was a human..."
another long silence occurred afterwards.
"I came from the outside."
"So..you.. you've been away from the outside for longer than we have." Zbaltazar mumbled, sympathising with the small drone. "I don't know how.. but I feel.. sick. I hate this. The outside is so different. I won't be able to do the things I did as a human. I won't.. I won't be able to see my family again. ever." it sobbed.
"B-12.. don't be upset." A voice muttered, it was the guardian, he crouched down beside Momo to comfort the small bot, "It may not be the same, but it can be a start to a new life. I mean. If you were still human. You would've.. you know.. passed. You wouldn't have been able to witness the outside. You wouldn't have been able to meet the cat. All of these things happened for a reason."
The drone stayed silent.
"I guess your right.. but.. I.. need some time.." He muttered before resting itself in Momos hands and powering off. He looked to clementine who took the B-12 out of the rainbow - screened bots hand and put it in her bag.
"So.. where to? Where will we go?" Seamus finally said, it was the first thing he'd said since they'd made it to the outside. "We're planning to build a new city. Outside. but, does anybody have ideas for a possible location."
There was a long long silence as people's faces lit up with question marks, unsure of where they could go.Doc looked down to Clementines bag, then back to the Guardian, "I think I might know.."
Hours passed by and as they did so, the companions grew closer and closer to the spot they'd call home. B-12 woke up frequently, every so often, but then just went back to resting. The journey was tiring, but after hours, hours and more hours.
They found the spot.
There was lots of flat space, the grass was a reasonable length, it could still do with some mowing but overall it wouldn't be impossible to build with it there, then, there was a pond. If you'd look close enough, for long enough, you'd often find fish bobbing out of the water. Doc showed a calm smile after he saw the fish in the water. He was glad. However, what they all had to do now, was find materials, and build.
Lucky enough, substances like metals, plastics, etc, were easy to get, after all, people had carried bags of materials they had taken from the city.
Minutes passed, which turned to hours, which turned to days, so on.
Then the new city was complete.
The Outsiders were still slightly distressed. Others wondered why, they thought maybe they were homesick. But no. B-12 hadn't powered on for days. Perhaps he was out of battery? But that's not what his outside said. It had half charge, he shouldn't have ran out yet.
Momo volunteered to take care of B-12, he took it inside his house and rested it on a beanbag in the library area. The large robot picked out a book and sat under a cozy, miniature, tent-den-like area that Clementine had built for him. He sat and read for a few hours, till he heard beeping, then a voice. "Momo..?"
Momo closed his book and placed it beside him, standing up and walking over to the drone. "Momo where are we?" The larger robot let out a sigh of relief, then smiled, "Home. Do you like the library? And hey, I got us some fishing rods!" B-12 sighed, "I can't hold a fishing rod." "You can this one, Doc made it. Its waterproof and you can hack into it to control it after you prop it up on a wooden thing outside." The drones eyes lit up and it did loopty-loops of pure joy, rushing outside to be greeted by a large pond. Then, he took a scan of the house, it was a small, comfy cottage.
"I.. I always wanted to live in a cottage by a pond! Where I could fish! And there's a library too!" B-12 cheered, rushing back inside, "Ohhh Momo thank you thank you so much!"
Momo smiled, "Don't thank me. Thank Doc. He suggested it." B-12 shook his head, "No, I'll thank him later. Right now I'll thank you. For helping me and the cat once we first got to the slums. If it wasn't for you helping show the way to ant village then midtown we wouldn't be here right now!" Momo blushed at the compliment, he smiled nervously," I don't deserve the thanks. You two both did so much more than I did. All I did was sit around lazily as you collected things, I then contacted Zbaltazar, took you on a raft, so on."
B-12 sighed, "But you still got us somewhere. It was hugely beneficial even if you didn't do all that much."
Momo clapped his hands together, "It was?" B-12 responded with a small nod, "Thanks Momo." "Thank you too B-12!"
