Athena’s POV

We were only planning on having a nice calm and collected holiday. Hanging out on the beach, just like how normal families do when they are on vacation. Discovering new places, meeting new people, finding new friendships, going on adventures, and overall just being me and doing what I like doing.

It was a hot summer's day when my family had made it to the airport to get ready to board the plane. We were planning on going on a month-long vacation to Leilani Reef, just to cool off and to relax from all the stress that's been put on us for the past few days in the Country. I was excited to go out and do activities rather than not being  cooped up all day in the house. Mom, Dad and my two younger twin brothers Oscar and Ollie had planned it long ago to have an actual family outing to an Island. A catch up is what we like to call it.

Once we finally boarded the small plane that would hold at least 100 people, we then set off. Everything was going good just like we suspected at first. We were chatting away, reading, watching movies or just relaxing. Once in a while we would start to doze off if we were tired. Occasionally I would ask Mom what the first thing we were going to do there when we arrived at Leilani Reef and what we would do first once we land. She would say that we would go and stay in a Hotel for the night then would plan out what we would do for the next day and left it at that. Every so often the Captain would check on us through the speaker updating us on where we were and how long we had left to go before we reached our destination.

All of a sudden the Captain was telling us there was major Engine braking and was telling us to stay calm so that we will update you on what’s going to happen. After the Captain told us that some of us looked out the side window, that's when we could all tell something was very, very wrong by the look on each other's faces. There was smoke coming out of the wings on the side, then without realising it the wing on the opposite side of where I sat the full wing that once was there now broke in half with a very dense looking smoke coming out of the broken wing.

Just by looking at that and what had just happened, the real trouble began and that's where all hell had broken loose. The people that once were calm and happy to enjoy their time away suddenly started crying and holding on to others for dear life while others were screaming or yelling very loudly making you almost deaf. The warning light's beacons that were just a nice red were now a very vibrant blaring red.

I tried not to look all worried in front of my little brothers that sat beside me as they both looked up at me with very confused faces, not knowing what was going on. That’s when I happened to look down at the screen that sat in front of me that would always notify us now and again on how high we were and how many hours away from our destination was. I saw what once told us how high we were now going, was now going down at a very fast pace, a total 3,000 feet down into the island that displayed on the screen below. So then later, everything happened so fast before you know it...

...Everything went black.
