Today was probably one of the worst days to be alive, it was raining, my crush wasn't here to gape at, and to top it all off I was failing trigonometry. Well, maybe I exaggerated that a little, but in my eyes this would be a good day to step in front of a bus, I look up from my computer to meet my teacher's hostile gaze. Today, apparently, was not a good day to draw characters off the internet. "Well Ms. Oberkirch, since it seems as if you already know this, how about you answer our next question." My cheeks burn with embarrassment, as I squint at the board 'how did Romeo compare juliet to a rose?' Holy crap, I actually knew this one. "If thy were to call a rose by any other name it would smell just as sweet." I answer a bit proudly, "Yes, well it seems you've turned out lucky today Ms. Oberkirch, now pay attention." I roll my eyes and let out a deep breath as the bell rings.
"Have you heard about the new kids that have come to town?" My bestfriend Chrysa asks as she catches up to me. "Uh. No. Why should I care?" Chrysa rolls her eyes, something she seems to do a lot. "Because everyone's raving about it! No one ever comes here on purpose. You're either born here or forced at gunpoint. And honestly, most of the ones at gunpoint rather die." I chuckle at the fact how true that is, everyone hates living here in Botchell, Alabama, it sucks. It's humid, depressing, and everybody here are nosey and make you want to kill yourself. This would probably be the place to visit if you wanted to commit suicide. There's absolutely nothing to think about to stop you. You'll get that job done quickly or question why you wanted to kill yourself in the first place, you've got it made compared to this place.
"Well they came here", Chrysa continues as we begin to sit down at the lunch table, "Yeah that's super weird...so what have you got for lunch? Wanna trade anything, I've got a pudding cup." I wave it in front of her face before she slaps it down "this is no time for pudding Chrissy!" I rub my hand and pick up my pudding, "There is no reason to care about what's going on!" "Well I think something's up" she continues again and I finally just pretend I'm listening to her blab on..I drift off in my own world before Chrysa snaps me back into reality "Look! There they are!" My head lifts up and there they are, nine perfect looking people walking across the grass from school to us. To us! "Hey", one of them says, a boy, before pulling his fingers through his hair. "We're uh new here and we don't really know where to go" the only way I would describe them is unreal, there were nine of them: three girls and six boys each so different from the other. The one speaking to us was regular height with a bit of a muscular build, his hair was a rustic brown and his eyes the same color. He was so welcoming and had a smile that could knock people dead. There were five other
boys, siblings my ass, they couldn't have been far from complete opposites of each other. One of the other boys was huge, the biggest of all of them, and probably stronger than all of them put together, his eyes striking green, with hair so black it almost looked blue. The other four just as striking as the last, one of them was so small I almost laughed when I saw him. He was apparently our age but when he spoke he sounded like a little boy, acted like one too. There were to other boys that almost looked like twins, both very pail, silent, and wearing jackets, and it was hot, as usual. The last boy was average in height, dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. Not much about him that popped really. The three girls were just as exotic, one of them an Amazon with golden glowing hail that cascaded down her back with golden eyes that brightened a room. Another girl was so feminine, her hair done, nails, and makeup. Obviously beautiful while the other was more of a tomboy, hair in waves, no makeup and fit. She however still had a feminine way about her, she was like me with the noncaring attitude and little interest in the world around her. These people were different, they had something wrong about them, I could tell while Chrysa was still in awe of their beauty. "I'm Chrissy, and this is my best friend Chrysa. Where are you going?" I ask coldly, I really had no time to pretend to give a shit about a bunch of barbies that showed up here. "I think I have theatre next" the pretty girl peeped. "Yeah, well I've got math so I'm the other way." I get up and roll my eyes at Chrysa who clearly is upset with the way I was acting. She rolls around to face them and smiles, "well I happen to be right next to there" her warm smile can fill the hearts of anyone for miles. "Don't let me roll over your toe now" she giggled. Chrysa has Arthrogryposis by the way, a disease enabling her from using her muscles and limbs as we do. I always forget because I don't find it out of the norm. Anyway, In her case she can not lift her arms above her waist or use her fingers due to her hands being curled under. She also can not walk but that's pretty much it. I have never been one to truly treat her as if she's different and it actually makes me really awkward when people do. She's been my best friend for a really long time now and I am very protective of her.
