"we are going to place with your grandparents, they live here on the Southside not far from the highschool". My clucky social worker said over her desk, I hadn't looked her in the eye ever since the funeral, then again I had not looked at anyone. Maybe only the serpents since I feel only safe around them, so I hang out at the whyt wuym after school till I pass out somewhere.
"I don't know my grandparents, my mum...never mentioned them". I couldn't barely speak of her with out breaking down.
" Is because they are not your mother's parents, is your fathers". I looked up to met her eyes.
"My father's, but I didn't know my father". I blurted out sitting up right.
"Well since your father is dead, and we didn't get a response from your mother's parents, they are the only legal guardians we have". She looked down at her paper, then back up at me. "Miss foreman, I understand your concern but their is no other option at least until your of age to care for yourself, we most explore this opportunity besides they are keen to see you". She finished.
"They want to see me?" I said dumbly, the social worker simled.
"of course".Later I headed over to the bar to gather my things and get my bag, as I placed a comb in you my backpack, Sweet pea hovered round me watching my movements like a hark. " you ok?" he asked seeming concerned.
" Yeah I'm good, just have to, see my new guardians tomorrow, grandparents, I never met or knew about but they apparently, want to met me". I sniffed, my voice going corky, pushing a rogue strand from my face, my hair was horrible, face not worth mentioning and my clothes, I just wanted to cry.
" Sit down, have you even eaten today?" he asked, I shrugged and turned to sit on a bar stool. He touched my knees twisted me to face him, my feet settled on the stool foot rest whilst Sweet pea's legs braced on either side on the floor. "Snake eye, you got some snacks?" he asked not taking his eyes from mine. "you can shower at my place, if you don't feel awkward too."
" No I would welcome a shower, thank you". I smiled for the first time in four or five days. Snacks where place on the table, and Sweet pea snatch them up handing candy bars and chips to me. For long moments his hand enclosed mine with the snacks as we started at them."Things are gonna be hard from here on out, I can't imagine how hard but I will be here if you need me". He said, pushing a strand of my hair away, I gave him a weak smile.
"I can use that shower". I said, he took hold of my hand.
" Come with me I'll take you,to my house". Without any protests I let him take be with him, Hopefully tonight would be a better night and tomorrow i deal with all the issues.
By the time we reached, Sweet peas Trailer, There was no light on inside of it. So I just walked with him to the door which he opened and we went inside, The interior was quite nice it was designed like a man's cave. It had a woollen carpet on the floor in front of the television, Multi coloured, The place wasn't big but it was decent enough for someone to live in but Sweet pea being tall he still had to duck his head a few times.
Everything was mixed mashed like it just found whatever and just added them into this place.
I smiled because it was homie. "So, where is the shower?"
" It's through there". He pointed to a small space by the war it wasn't small but it was a doorway, I looked and noticed that there was no door just a curtain.
What was she meant to do without an actual door, I would be practically naked in front of him.
" I'll just wait outside the trailer". Sweet pea said, He must have noticed how uncomfortable I was with the idea of that not been a door for the bathroom, he was sweet enough to notice and decide this.
I just nodded and he headed out leaving me alone in his home. What may be curious was a fact that there was no feminine look about the place and he said he had a mother. So where was she? I didn't want to be rude so I didn't say anything after he left.
