I sighed with relief as I stepped through my front door and set my bag down. After a long day on my feet at work I just needed to lie down. I kicked off my shoes and wandered into the kitchen to put the kettle on.

As I made my way to the bedroom I passed through the livingroom and noticed chocolate wrappers on the coffee table. For a moment I felt nervous, worried someone had broken into my flat but those feelings soon went away when I heard a quiet chuckle come from somewhere in the room. I shook my head and picked up a cushion from the sofa.

"Get your ass out here, Quinn! You ate all my fucking chocolate, you dick!" I called out, spotting the floor length curtain move slightly. I lifted the cushion and aimed it. Just as he appeared from behind the curtain I launched it and laughed as it hit him right in the face.

"Now that's no way to greet your best friend!" He chuckled as he placed the cushion back on the sofa before wrapping his arms around my waist and twirling me around. I couldn't help but let out a little giggle. A few moments later he put me back down and we made our way to the kitchen.

"I didn't think you'd be back for another few weeks. Everything okay with work?" I asked as I got two mugs out of the cupboard.

Before I could grab the kettle he came up behind me and guided me towards the island chairs, making sure I stayed put while he made us both a cup of tea. "Work is fine, I promise. I just wanted to see my best friend. Is that okay?"

"Of course it's okay. What's not okay is you eating my chocolate, you twat!"

Instead of answering he gave me a cheeky grin and left the room. I was confused until I heard the rustle of a bag. Not even a few seconds later he appeared in the doorway with what looked like a tesco bag full of snacks.

"You really think I'd eat all your snacks without bringing replacements? I thought we were friends!" He placed a hand on his chest and pretended to be wounded.

"I think you should give up your day job, Quinn." I smirked, grabbing the snacks and looking inside, grinning when I saw our usual movie night snacks.

"I know work has been shit recently so I made time to come back and spend a few days with you, if you'll have me."

"Well, you bought me food. How could I say no? Now grab the tea and join me on the sofa. Marvel movie night?"

"Of course!" Joe grabbed the cups of tea and followed me into the living room. He set them down and went into the bedroom, shortly returning with a couple of pillows and my favourite blanket. "Do we want pizza, mcdonalds or chinese?"

"Surprise me! You know I'm not fussy."

For half an hour we sat and chatted, catching up on everything that had happened since we last saw each other. Just as I clicked on Disney+ there was a knock on the door. Joe ran to open the door and came back with mcdonalds. I eagerly grabbed a bag and tore it open, internally squealing when I saw a box of 20 nuggets.

We put the first Captain America movie on and ate our food, enjoying each others company. After the third movie I started to feel sleepy and lay myself down so my head was resting on his lap. He started to stroke my hair and I smiled to myself, thinking how grateful I was to have such an amazing friend. Eventually I drifted off into a peaceful sleep, all my worries gone.
