new place, new me... i hope

Never in my life did I think I'd be moving to southern California. Well, I never thought I would be able to afford it. The two bedroom apartment I got is well over $1000 a month. But I have a good amount of money saved from my streams. I've been streaming since I was 14. I'm 19 now, and my subscribers have skyrocketed since my friend, Rae, invited me to play Among Us with her and her friends. During the stream, she told everyone to go and subscribe or she'd end her live. I jumped from 3k to almost 1m in an hour and it's still climbing. I lived with my foster mom until I graduated high school, though I had enough money to move out by junior year. Rae has always been the big sister I never had, and I love her for that. She's always been very protective over me, especially when I'm having a hard time.
Let me give you a bit of a backstory.

*flashback*
They really need to start thinking about this stuff.  I can't go to the grocery store with the bruises they left. People are going to notice. I think to myself as I look over the list I was given.
I pass by a girl going to the cereal isle. She smiles at me, until my hair falls away from my face and she sees. Shit. I try to walk away, but she stops me. "Hey, hun?" I stop and slowly turn around.
"Y-yes?"
She looks at me with concern. That's new.
Do you wanna come to my place for some tea or coffee? I tilt my head when she asks this.
"I shouldn't. I have to get these groceries." I tell her. She smiles.
"It won't take long, I promise." She tells me. I realize I'm not gonna get rid of her, so I agree.
"Okay, but I can't stay long." I tell her. She nods and leads me to her car.
"I'm Rachell, by the way. But you can call me Rae."
"Liv." Is all I say.
I was 12 then. Little did I know, that cup of tea would change my life forever.
*end of flashback*
Ever since then, she has always been there. Anytime I need something, she's there. I've never been alone.
