(Not) 31 Days of October (Sonic x Reader)

(Day 1) Autumn Walk

[Third POV]

The season of fall had its own unique beauty. Leaves that were coated with warm colors, the orange and red tint in the area, even the weather was nice. It wasn't too hot where you had to wear tank tops and shorts, or too cold where you have to wear a lot of layers to keep warm.

There were quite a bit of people walking around the park. Today was a beautiful day to go out for groceries, a walk, a date, anything.

It was really nice that Eggman hadn't come to disturb the peace. Perhaps he was also taking a break for today.

Although, not everyone could sit around all day and snuggle in some blankets. Sonic was running around the city to see if there was anything to do there. With no luck, he decided to visit a very good friend of his.

He slowed down to a walk in front of house and knocked on the door. After a moment, a(n) (F/C) (A/T) opened the door to see the blue blur standing there.

"Ah, hey Sonic. How are you today?" The (A/T) leaned against the door.

Sonic smiled, "I'm doing well, (Y/N)."

"Would you like to come inside? I can get you a drink or something."

"Mhm. Sounds nice," Sonic walked into (Y/N)'s house after they opened the door further and stepped aside.

(Y/N) the (A/T). An attractive person. Guess you could say they were Sonic's crush. Something about them interested him. Their smile could brighten anyone's day.

As Sonic sat on the couch, (Y/N) poured some tea into a mug and handed it to Sonic when they walked to the couch. The two conversed with each other, talking about anything that came to mind.

After about 30 minutes of conversation, they agreed to head outside for a walk. It'd feel nice to get some fresh air and to stretch their legs.

The park seemed to have a lot of groups hanging out, so Sonic and (Y/N) walked to a more secluded trail to relax without feeling too crowded.

The trees still had some leaves on the branches, seeming to hang on for dear life. But the leaves were red, orange, yellow, brown, and many more shades of warm colors, making the scenery very beautiful.

The air was kinda chilly, but it was tolerable. The two walked in silence. Though it wasn't an awkward one, it was relaxed. No words had to be exchanged.

Sonic was debating on whether or not he should confess his feelings to (Y/N). It seemed like the perfect setting, but he thought it was too cliché, even if it wasn't too cliché.

"The trees are really beautiful, aren't they?" (Y/N) asked, looking in Sonic's direction.

"Mm- yeah! Really nice..." Sonic glances towards (Y/N), but quickly turns back to the trees ahead.

(Y/N) hummed quietly at Sonic's sudden, odd behavior, but shrugged it off.

'C'mon, just tell them already! It's not that hard!'

Sonic silently sighed and look (Y/N)'s face. Their (E/C) eyes darting around to look at every detail in the forest. Their (quills/hair/feathers/etc) swaying in the breeze, the small smile on their face. Everything about (Y/N) seemed so perfect.

'How did I fall so hard?'

"Hey, (N/N)?"

(Y/N) looked at Sonic, giving him their full attention. "Yes?"

"I kinda- wanna tell you something that's really- quite important." Sonic started sweating and looked at anything but (Y/N)'s face. He may have seemed a little calm on the outside, but he was panicking on the inside.

'You just had to stutter! This is getting too cliché!'

"Okay. What is it?" (Y/N) started swinging their arms.

Sonic stopped in his tracks, making (Y/N) imitate his actions. "I... *sigh* screw it. I've always been interested in you because you seemed so different. I don't know how to really say this without feeling too cliché, but... I love you. Well, maybe not love, but I've had a crush on you for a bit and-"

He stopped talking when he felt (Y/N)'s lips pressed against his. Before anything happened, they pulled away and looked into Sonic's emerald eyes.

"You don't have to ramble on anymore. I get it. A simple 'I have a crush on you' would've been enough, but it might need an introduction for it. Though I, too, am interested in you." (Y/N) smiled.

In that moment, Sonic had never felt so loved. His crush liked him back! While cheering on the inside, he pressed his lips on (Y/N)'s and wrapped his arms around their waist. They did the same, only around his neck.

A beautiful vermillion leaf fell from a branch and landed softly on Sonic's head. Feeling that, Sonic pulled away and grabbed the leaf.

"Guess the leaf wanted a little love, huh?" He chuckled.

(Y/N) giggled and the two continued their walk, hand in hand, enjoying this new, loving feeling. The vermillion leaf flew around with the help of the wind, which also rustled the trees' leaves as well.

[Too cliché? Eh, whatevs. That's day 1 for October!] :D (This was also pretty short, but it's just a walk. Did I overuse the word "cliché"? Yea, most likely.)
