I tapped my finger on my desk, staring at the teacher ahead of me. The words he spoke were monotone and lifeless. I turned to my best friend, Light Yagami, to see if he what he was doing. His eyes were burned by the outside world. He stared out the window. Who could blame him? I think we all wanted to be outside rather than be in here.

"Yagami, please read paragraph 42 in English," the teacher says

"Yes, Sensai," Light stands up and grabs his book. He opens his mouth and begins to recite the paragraph. "Though he couldn't see ahead of him, he knew what was coming. People with common sense can sense the most possible outcoming. Being alone in a dark room, tied up, couldn't be good." Light bowed and took his seat.

I looked over my shoulder at him, yet again. He looked into my eyes and smiled a little.

"What?" He mouthed to me. A smile grew on my face as a little laugh came out. He rolled his eyes and looked back at the teacher.

Light and I usually look at each other for no reason and burst out laughing. Something had to be on his mind because he didn't even laugh a little. I sighed and turned back to the teacher, copying down his annotations of the text.

Finally, classes were over! I leaned over the back of my chair to crack my back before standing up and walking to Light's desk. He looked up at me and smiled at me. A stupid smile overtook my face.

"That look!" He stood up defensively

"What were you looking at outside!" I said, putting my hands up in defense

"I thought I saw something fall. It was black, but it might've just been a crow" he sighed and began to pack up

"Ah, who cares about that anyways? I gotta go to the math room and grab a copy of the study guide. I lost it somewhere"

"If you need help with it, you can come over," he said as he stuffed his book into his bag

"Yeah, I probably will. I might just sit on your bed and do it because id rather be with you than be alone" I said as I adjusted my bag on my shoulder

"Okay, do you want to just walk to my house together? Or do you want me to go there and wait for you?"

"I think I'm gonna grab the study guide and grab some food. I'll just text you" I said as light and I began to walk out of the classroom. He nodded and we separated ways as I walked to the 2nd floor to get my math study guide.

I slid open the door and walked in. My teacher sat at her desk grading our recent quiz.

"L/N?" She sighs

"Hi- I lost my study guide..." I said sheepishly

"Go to the absent folder and grab on from Mondays. You've had all week to do this, you know? It's gonna be stressful to get it done over the weekend, honey." She sighed and adjusted her glasses

"I know, I guess I just forgot! Out of sight out of mind...?" I quickly shuffled to the folder and grabbed the thick packet. She let out an elongated breath and continued to grade. I ran my thumber over the holes in the paper. I quickly walked to the door and gripped the handle, preparing to pull it closed.

"L/N, if you have questions don't hesitate to ask. You know you don't give yourself as much credit as you deserve. You perform marvelously when you take your time" she says, keeping her eyes glued to the papers in front of her. I glanced at the paper. It was mine. I remember because I forgot a pencil that day, and the girl next to me let me use a green pen.

I smiled at her and nodded, "Thank you."

I swiftly shut the door and walked down the hallway. I need to go home and shower before I go to Light's. I'll probably eat dinner with them and grab a snack when I arrive. I checked my phone. Shit, the bus is gonna be here soon. I bolted to the bus stop while the sound of my heels stomping against the linoleum floor echoed through the halls.

I caught my breath as I held onto the pole of the bus stop bench. The bus was just now pulling up. Wait! I don't even need to go on the bus if I just go to Lights. I don't really need a shower anyways.

I groan at the waisted energy and begin to walk to Light's house. It wasn't that far of a walk, just about 3 minutes.

I opened the door and greeted his mom.

"Good evening, Mrs. Yagami!" I said as I took off my shoes

"Good evening, Y/N. Lights upstairs in his room. How are you tonight?"

"I'm alright. Just tired."

"Are you gonna go with him to that cram class?" She asks

"I mean yeah probably, I need the extra credit" I laugh. I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed some chips. I ran upstairs to Light's room and knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"I heard him yell

"Y/N!"

I heard his chair squeak as he walked to the door. He unlocked it and let me in. I walked in and threw my stuff on his bed. I flopped down onto his bed and groaned.

"What are you groaning about?" He asked me as he took a seat in his squeaky chair. I stared up at his creme-coloured ceiling and groaned again.

"I don't wanna do my homework," I said quickly sitting up and frowning. He rolled his eyes and looked back down at a notebook in front of him.

"I'm working on something, but if you need help just ask. You can do this" he says as he watches the news on his old TV. I hear the static coming off the screen and I groan more. I rolled over to my bag and grabbed my math homework.

Light was writing in a black notebook. His eyes flipped from the news to his book.

"What's so interesting about the news?" I groaned as the numbers on my paper mo9lded together and made my head hurt.

"A criminal holding pre-schoolers and the teacher hostage just died of a heart attack..." He said in awe at the screen in front of him. I hummed and continued my math homework.

The clock ticked and Light and I wrote on our respective pieces of paper. Light sighed and pushed away from his wooden desk. His chair squeaked as he sat up.

"Hey, we should get going. It's 6:30" He said as he powered off his little TV

"I'm so tired" I groaned as I tossed my math folder into my bag

"You don't have to go. Want me to walk you home?" He said as he got his stuff together.

"If you wouldn't mind, that'd be lovely"
