The story begins in the Imperial Republic of Latrevia, where we meet Valerius and his family.
Valerius Xarpeius, known for his vibrant energy and dedication, is the 2nd in line to the Imperial throne. He is the nephew of Zarpaii I, the current emperor, and he emerged during a crisis in 1109. Despite his jovial nature, he struggles with his lineage, particularly his connection to Zarpaii, which casts a shadow over his aspirations.
Valerius's father, Latreus Xarpeius, holds the first position in line to the throne. However, he was bypassed by Zarpaii, leaving a rift between the two families. Latreus embodies the stern demeanor of his ancestors, prioritizing duty over personal desires.
Feeling trapped by his familial ties, Valerius contemplates his future. Should he join the Navy or accept his father's offer to govern Louloudia? The pressure mounts as Latreus enters his office.
"So, Valerius, have you decided, or should I inform your uncle of your indecision?" Latreus's tone is laced with impatience.
"Can't this wait? I haven't decided whether it aligns with my interests," Valerius retorts, sensing his father's frustration.
"It's not about your preferences; it's about serving the people," Latreus asserts, his demeanor shifting.
"I fail to see the significance. You and Zarpaii are already serving the people. I desire a semblance of privacy," Valerius insists, pushing back against tradition.
"It matters not. You have only two choices," Latreus asserts, his tone final.
"Fine, I'll join the navy," Valerius concedes, his frustration evident.
As tension simmers, Valerius receives a summons to Zarpaii's office. Reluctant to comply, he finds himself forcibly escorted by guards, a routine occurrence that irks him to no end.
"Can't you refrain from this incessant coercion every time I resist your summons?" Valerius's exasperation spills forth as he confronts Zarpaii.
"It's the only way to ensure your compliance," Zarpaii responds calmly, unfazed by Valerius's outburst.
Amidst the confrontation, Zarpaii reveals Valerius's acceptance into a program destined for Colline, a colony in the realm of Regnum.
"Colline? Where in the world is that?" Valerius's disbelief tinges his voice as he grapples with the news.
"It seems you require an education beyond what you've studied. Colline is a significant outpost in Regnum," Zarpaii explains, his tone patient.
Struggling with the news, Valerius confides in Zavryei, seeking solace in his trusted confidant.
"I don't wish to depart the Kosmos, Zavryei. I feel entrapped, manipulated by both Latreus and Zarpaii," Valerius confides, his vulnerability laid bare.
Zavryei offers reassurance, urging Valerius to view the opportunity as a means of escape from Zarpaii's shadow. Despite his reservations, Valerius reluctantly agrees, seeking a semblance of discipline amidst the chaos.
As the departure day arrives, Valerius finds solace by the sea, contemplating the impending journey. His solitude is interrupted by Zavryei, whose presence offers a comforting embrace.
"You have allies in your absence. We'll ensure your interests are protected," Zavryei assures, his loyalty unwavering.
The farewell is bittersweet as Valerius boards the ship, bidding farewell to the life he once knew.
Meanwhile, in Zarpaii's office, tensions mount as news of Valerius's departure surfaces.
"Our plan is jeopardized. Valerius's departure leaves us vulnerable," Zarpaii concedes, grappling with the unforeseen obstacle.
As uncertainty looms, the future of the Imperial Republic hangs in the balance, its fate intertwined with the destinies of its inhabitants.
End of part.
