It was a surprisingly difficult task getting out of the house with me, Jisoo, Mingyu, and DK. We were only able to once S.Coups and Jeonghan left in an attempt to find someone to repair the vandalized vehicle before tonight. And even then, we had to get past the questions of a nosy Seungkwan.
After S.Coups got his car sabotaged last night, he was worried about letting anyone leave the house.
He claimed, "If Monsta X was brave enough to destroy my car while we were in the restaurant, why wouldn't they be brave enough to go after you?"
From the X carved in the door, it was easy to agree that Monsta X was the perpetrator. That and the fact that Mingyu was the reason Changkyun was already out of competition. I don't know why they didn't go after Mingyu instead, but S.Coups was their target.
But even with S.Coups worries and Monsta X's threat, we're still going to see Changkyun.
After the combination of his injury and the sabotage, I figured today would be canceled. Yet I woke up to a text from Changkyun confirming the meeting. I was close to calling off, but Jisoo and the two others still wanted to do it, especially Mingyu.
I've seen Mingyu act almost defiantly toward S.Coups during meetings, so it's a shock to me that he seems to be the most upset, after S.Coups, about the leader's car.
He seems to be calmer about it now that we're at The Rose though.
The inside of the coffee shop was cozy. The front of the old shop has turned into a seating area for customers, with a counter for making drinks. The part of the shop that let you go deeper into the back was renovated into a kitchen. Booths were set up along the windows, while the rest of the floor space had standard tables.
Me and Jisoo are silently seated in one of the booths. We each have a drink, but neither of us sips from it. The angst from waiting making us lose our appetite.
As for Mingyu and DK, they're seated a few tables away in their disguises. Neither of which is excellent. DK is wearing a basketball cap over his face and a fake mustache that couldn't look more fake, And Mingyu is simply wearing a beanie and a face mask. If Changkyun looks at them for a good second, he will recognize them. So we're in hopes that he won't. To hopefully stop him from even getting a chance, me and Jisoo sit where we can see the two 'hidden' men.
"What even is the point of this?" I say mainly to myself. "What good could possibly come from this?"
"I don't know," Jisoo sighs. "Really, if anything is going to change, it relies on Changkyun," Jisoo says spitefully. "Not much we can do."
"I'm so tired of this," I sigh. "How the hell did we get tangled in this," I begin to rant, slowly losing myself. "We make one mistake of saying something, and then our lives are being threatened!"
Jisoo smacks my arm to shut me up, "He's here," She whispers.
Immediately once he walks in, he finds us and walks over, going right past DK and Mingyu without noticing.
His wounds are much more visible now. He walks with a limp, and his arm is in a sling, but most noticeably is his bruised, cut-up face. The worst gash being a jagged cut going from the top of his left cheek to the corner of his mouth.
He sits at the table, not even bothering to say "Hi," before doing so.
To my shock, he looks at us, expecting us to talk first. But neither me nor Jisoo speaks, leaving a tense silence at the table. From the anxious way Mingyu watches us, I suspect he also feels the tension.
Finally, after what feels like forever, but was probably only thirty seconds, Changkyun speaks up. "So, how do you know Seventeen?"
I expected the question, but I didn't think it would be the first words he said to us. In some way, it felt like a slap to the face. "It doesn't matter now," I snidely reply. Maybe if he asked later, I would give him a better answer, but it's stupid to give him that now. "You came here to explain something to us. Start with that." I surprise myself with the demands but make sure to not let myself falter under pressure.
