Lincoln Loud drives home, he is a little tired and wonders what his family was doing while he had to go to Detroit to fix his contract with the publisher; Lisa didn't call him at all and neither did his children; he was surprised that neither Junior nor Hedy had bothered him asking for something from the city.
Arriving home, he parked the truck, took his backpack and walked slowly to the door; looking up, he realized that his house was very similar to the one his parents had, in fact, almost all his sisters' houses were like this: the typical two-story house, with a front porch, back garden and front, and garage to one side; some were larger, but the model was basically the same, except for Lola's, her husband was rich and they lived in a mansion in a very exclusive suburb.
When he entered, he heard a discussion in the kitchen and he could only make a face of annoyance, having children entering adolescence was horrible, he wondered how it is that his parents put up with so much madness without ending up the same; maybe that's why they were so nonchalant, if they ignored everything, they could keep their mental balance.
In the kitchen, Junior and Hedy were fighting loudly over the last slice of pizza, giving Lincoln the signal that his wife wasn't home, or at least not on the surface; Lisa had built a laboratory in a second basement as soon as they bought the house, it was soundproofed and anti-radiation coated, so as not to affect anyone.
The white-haired man left his backpack on the kitchen counter and stood next to his children, who were so focused on fighting that they didn't even notice him, and in a quick movement, he took the slice of pizza, taking a big bite; he smiled as he savored it, it was a Loud special, his father's recipe and it was sold at "Lynn's table". The children immediately turned around and shouted — DAD! — at the same time and they tried to take something from his pizza, so Lincoln ran to the dining room, laughing like crazy and spitting out part of what he had in his mouth on the way, this was enough for his children to leave him alone, when his father was like Luan Loud, it was better to get away.
Lincoln returned to the kitchen and approached his children, Hedy was looking at him over her shoulder, hiding her anger, but Junior did see him with a sullen expression; the white-haired man had already finished with the pizza and the damage was already done, so he leaned on the bar
— I'm sorry, okay? I just don't like coming home and finding them fighting, but if the reason for the fight disappears, the fight is over —
the children are silent for a few seconds until Junior let out his anger
— it was the last piece of pizza, Dad! —
— and it was mine! Hedy says without turning around.
— It was not! — Lincoln Junior replies approaching his sister, who now turns and faces him from the other side of the bar
— yes it was!, mom gave it to me in the afternoon, you weren't here and...! —
— ENOUGH!, SHUT UP YOU TWO! —
They both close their mouths immediately and look at their father, it is not common for him to raise his voice, so they feel that he has been upset, Lincoln sits down and calls them with his finger, to which they obey
— a two-day pizza fight is the dumbest thing you guys have done this week... well, that's not counting the party at Leni's house or the unauthorized pet... on second thought, this is nothing compared to that. We're going to do something, I'm going to call Grandpa's restaurant and I'll order some dinner, okay?... — both children celebrate until their father calls their attention —... but, Hedy: your dinner must have meat, and Junior: yours must have vegetables, AND you can't trade between you; I don't care what you think, you already know that you must respect the diets that your mother assigns you and as long as you live in this house, you'll have to obey us —
