Heated - Chapter 6

"Make sure that those assignments are done by next week, okay?"

Professor Christians calls out to the class as we are already making our way out his lesson that had finally ended. I swear an hour of listening and working is about enough for one day. Even though I was excited to get to class and learn, I've found that the work is much more than I have expected it to be.

"Do you hear me?"

He calls out once more when he didn't get a reply from us.

"Yes, Professor Christians."

We all sing in unison in a dull tone as we finally make our way out. It seemed as though there were millions of bees around me as everybody began talking at once.

I've already finished an assignment that had me up until two in the morning and now I have to do another by next week? Ugh, spare me the agony and the endurance of headaches all around.

I make my way through the "swarm" and out of the "hive" - I should probably stop with the metaphors, huh? Just as I was walking down the hallway, I get abruptly shoved down to the floor by someone, making the books that were held in my hand fly down to the ground as well.

I wince in pain as I land on all fours. Luckily, I was wearing jeans, so a burn mark would not be as evident. But for my wrists? Well, that's another story.

"I'm really sorry about that, I didn't see you there."

I hear the voice of the person who has knocked me down as he tries to lift me up.

I'm kinda annoyed, but I try to play it off anyways.

"It's okay."

I let out with a sigh as I take all my books into my hand and get myself into a presentable state as I dust myself off. I then see him reach out his hand as he hands me a book. I look up at him as I take the book from him.

"Are you sure you're okay? I truly am sorry.

He apologizes once more and I could tell that he was being sincere at the look on his face as he made sure that I was alright.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

I reassure him with a smile as his gray eyes finally fill up with relief. I notice that he has the same dirty blond, floppy hair that I've definitely seen before.

Wait, isn't he...

"I'm Blake, by the way." I knew it! He stretches out his hand for me to take as I do so. "Have you heard about my party?"

"Uhm... I have, actually."

"So, you're coming, then?"

"Well..."

"'No' is not an option."

Wow, this guy really knows how to put a girl on the spot, doesn't he? I can see how he and Harry could be friends.

"You'll just have to wait and see then."

"Mm, a mystery. I like it." He smiles at me as he flashes his pearly whites and his gray eyes twinkles down at me. I could tell that he has something extra to ask me by the look on his face. "So, what is your name 'Mystery Girl'?"

He questions with intrigue as he wanted to know more about me.

"I wouldn't be a mystery if you knew, now would I?

I smartly reply back to him and he looks impressed with my reply to him.

Just then, my attention got averted to very compelling eyes that I knew could capture my heart with just a stare. He looked serious as he walked down the hall with his eyes hooded. Almost as though he was deep in thought. Then, evidently, those green engrossing eyes landed on mine and I swear that my heart got hit by a beam of gleaming lightning that awoken an emotion inside of me that I never knew existed until that very moment. I could feel it digging into the very core of me.
