The Allen's Family

As a normal routine doctor Bennard was in her lab, she was trying to reverse engineer the properties Overdrenaline serum, the kids were away from the house with her brother James for some fun, she still wanted the best for them even though they were in a lot of danger, doctor Bennard was working on her computer when the alarm around house went on, red lights started blinking at the corners of her lab, she realized that there were some people were trying to enter the house, she switched off the alarm and went to the computer next to her, she clicked the mouse to show the footage of the cameras that were set up outside the house, she saw a couple of men in black suits trying to breach the front door of the house, there were also three black jeeps parked in front of her house, she got scared and started breathing heavily, she knew that the Question mark had found her, she took out the drive from the computer and threw it in box on the table, she then grabbed a base ball bat and started wrecking down her lab, she destroyed all her hard work and everything she created and the all computers she used to finish the project, by the time she got out of her lab the men were already inside the house pointing guns at her, they all started paving a way for the man behind them to pass through, the man walked in the middle till he stopped in front  of doctor Bennard's face, "hello......,  doctor" said the man looking in her eyes, the man had a very deep voice that made him sound even more scarier, doctor Bennard stood still like her brain just hit pause, her heart was pounding so hard as if she was staring at lion, "I never thought I'd see you again....., actually I thought you were dead" added the man, he looked at her and saw that she utterly scared, so scared that she couldn't utter a single word, he turned around and looked at his men who were still holding their guns at her, "please put the guns down, you're frightening her" he said to his men, he then turned around to face doctor Bennard who was still quite frightened, it was like she had seen a ghost, "sorry about the guns, am not a monster, but sometimes I like to prove a point" said the man and smiled a little to make her feel comfortable,
"Who are you" asked doctor Bennard,  her voice shaking and so scared,
"Finally she speaks......., who I am is not important what's Important is what am here for" he replied,
"Where are my girls" asked the man, his face had changed and gotten even more serious
"Girls?....... What girls" replied doctor Bennard so confused by what he meant
"I sent my exterminators to clean up the labs the other day, and instead two girls were missing from their cells" he replied, "you were the last person to leave the lab......., So where are the girls" he added, doctor Bennard was even more confused cause she only stole one girl that day, so where did the other one go she asked herself,
"Where are they" he asked again, he then pulled his hand backwards to his men indicating that he should be handed a gun, doctor Bennard was quiet for a few seconds gathering her thoughts to reply,
"I don't know" she replied while shaking her head,
"May be this will jog your memory" said the man he then pulled out his gun and pointed it on her face, she closed her eyes waiting for the gun to be fired, "tell me where they are" said the man as he turned off the safety on his gun,
"I don't......"
he fired the shot before she could even finish, suddenly the house got quiet for a moment, the man turned around and looked at his men, "burn it down" he said and then he got out of the house.
It was almost getting dark so James had to send the kids back home, when they got there they found a lot of fire fighters and police officers surrounding the house, the house was smoking and filled with ashes, the fire fighters had managed to contain the fire and stop it, James parked the car a little further from the house "stay in the car" he said to the kids, he then got out of the car and went to the house to get a good look at the situation, he saw one of the police was talking to the woman living next door, it looked like she was the one who called the fire department, the police was done talking to the woman so he started going back to his car, James thought that would be a perfect moment to talk to him, "what happened here", he asked the policeman while walking next to him
"And who are you" asked the police man as he was heading to his car,
"Am the owner of the residence" replied James who was next to him as he was walking, he stopped for a second and then turned to get a good look at him, his face suddenly changed and looked merciful,
"There was a fire, it was due to electrical faulty" replied the police man
"Yeah I can see that, but there was woman inside" replied James, "what happened to her" he added, the police man sighed a little and then looked the other way,
"Am sorry for your loss" said the police, "we found her body inside, its all burnt up so hard to determine her face" he added, James turned around facing away from the police after hearing the death of her sister, he clenched his jaws tight so angry that her sister died, he knew that it was the Question mark was responsible for her death, the electrical faulty was just a cover-up, little tears started dripping from his eyes running down his chicks,
"am so sorry" said the police man while patting him on the shoulder, as they were still talking one of the fire fighters showed up with a small box and handed it to the police man, "these are things we could save from the fire" said the fire fighters as he handed out the box,
"Thanks" replied the police man and took the box from him, he then handed the box to James, he took it and went back to his car, "what happened to mom" asked Chris who was sitting in the front seat as he opened the door, he looked at him and smiled a little trying to hide away his grief, "mom is fine, they.....uh......., they took her to the hospital she's going to okay" he replied and nodded his head to show everything is okay, he got inside the car and they left that place. Next morning he and the kids boarded a plane going somewhere far away where the Question mark couldn't find them, he also found new identities for the kids and himself, he changed his name to Edward Allen, and Chris's new name was Ben Allen, and Forty eight's new name was Mary Allen the kids grew up going to school while learning martial arts when they got back home, Edward wanted them to be able to protect themselves incase the Question mark ever finds them, but Mary was a little bit different since all her senses and strength were heightened by the Overdrenaline  serum, even though she was young she was strong enough to punch through big a punching bag and leave a hole on it, her vision and hearing were so strong and sharp not like any other human, her reflexes were so fast, faster than a highly trained Navy seal and by then only four years had passed since the death of their mother doctor Bennard, so she was only ten years old and her brother Ben was fourteen years old, she was a very special girl with enhanced abilities. By the time she was sixteen Ben was twenty years old, he was old enough to go to college so she was left with her uncle Edward, she had gotten even more stronger than she was when she was a little girl.
One day she was going through some old boxes in house in the attic, she stumbled upon the box that was given to her uncle Edward the day their house burnt down, she opened it and found some random things inside, the box contained the things that survived the fire that day, she kept going through the box till she found the hard drive that doctor Bennard threw in the box in her lab the day of the fire, she became so curious to know what was inside, so she took it to her room and insert  the drive in her laptop, she saw the files inside were encrypted and there was a key required to decrypt them, she tried forty eight as the decryption key and it worked, the files started decrypting, she waited till the decryption was complete and she then opened the files to see what they had inside.
Henry and Claire were still at the hospital that night accompanied with a lot of police gathering evidences regarding the incident that happened in that hospital that night, they both had their statements taken by the police, they were then provided with new cars to get them home since their cars had flat tires, when Henry got home he had his car parked at the driveway, it was already late at night and way past midnight so everyone at his neighbourhood was already asleep, he was so tired the only thing running in his mind was going to bed, once he got inside his house it was dark so he flipped the switch to turn on the lights, but unfortunately that didn't work, he sighed in disappointment and tried flipping it again and again several times but it didn't work, as he was trying to turn the lights on he heard two claps coming from someone who was already inside the house with him, after he heard the claps the lights turned on, he turned around to see who it was, he was so shocked to see the woman wearing a black cap and mask covering her nose and mouth with a black leather coat and black pants sitting in his couch at the living room, he quickly reached for his gun and fired two shots but the bullets didn't come out, "I emptied the gun when you were busy with the light switch" said the woman,
"What do you want" asked Henry as he lowered his gun,
"Sit down, I want us to talk" the woman replied, he went ahead and took a seat in the couch that was opposite to the woman's couch, the only thing between them was a small table at the living room, "it's a nice TV you got there" said the woman once Henry finally sat down,
"Yeah I know its vintage, are you here to talk about my TV, or you have come to gloat" replied Henry with an angry face, the woman reached for her backpack that was next to her, she then reached inside and pulled out a white Marshmello helmet that was a size of her head,
"I brought you a present" she said as she landed the helmet on the table, Henry quickly pulled out the drawer of the table and took out a small gun that was inside, he aimed it at her and fired it again but it was also empty,
"You know for a great detective, you are pretty dumb" she said,
"I have a whole station that would totally disagree with you" he replied as landed the gun on the table,
"Yeah right" she replied the pushed the helmet towards him, "turn it over" she added, Henry looked at her with suspicious eyes for couple of seconds, "its not going to blow up" she said running out of patience, once he turned it over there was a file inside the helmet, he pulled it out and saw it was written Raven labs on top, before he could start going through it the lights went out again, he got up from his couch and went to light switch, he flipped it on and the lights were back up but when he turned around the woman was already gone.
Next morning he went back to work early in the morning, he found Lucy was already at the front desk, "is Mary already in" he said at a distance as he was passing through,
"Yeah check her In her lab,.... and what's that" Lucy replied pointing at the file he was holding in his left hand,
"Just paperwork" he replied and as he kept walking, he went to Mary's forensic lab to find her but she wasn't there, when he turned around and he saw Mary coming out of the bathroom, he quickly walked towards her and handed her the file,
"Here" he said as he gave the file to her so excited,
"What is this" she asked while looking at the file, she looked back at him and saw that his eyes were so red, like of a person who didn't get much sleep,
"I can't say right now, but I want it scanned into a soft copy" he replied as Mary was opening the file,
"Henry did you sleep last night" she asked, and opened the file to see what's inside,
"No, i was looking at the file all night" he replied, after seeing what was inside the file Mary was so shocked, she raised her head to look at him,
"Henry where did you get this" she asked looking shocked after seeing what was inside,
"I'll tell you when I get back, right now just do as I say" he replied,
"Why don't you give this to somebody else, this is highly confidential" she replied, Henry sighed a little and put his hands on her shoulders,
"You are the only one I can trust right now" he said, he got even closer to her and kissed her on her forehead, he then pulled back to look at her face and then kissed her again on her lips,
"Promise me you'll do it" he replied while looking in her eyes, his arms still on her shoulders,
"I promise" she replied back, he then left and went outside the station, there were three cars parked outside ready to leave, he opened the door to the first car to enter inside, he saw Claire in the driver's seat, "what took you so long" asked Claire with her hands on the stirring wheel,
"I had to run some errands" he replied as he entered the car,
"God you're so old" she replied looking away from him,
"Age is just a number, drive" he replied, she started the car and they left, the other two cars followed behind them,
"Hey quick question, did that errand involve you getting hurt" she asked as she was driving,
"No, why do you ask" he replied as he looked at her,
"Cause you got blood on your hand" she replied while looking at his hands, he looked down on his hands and saw a little blood on the palm of his right hand,
"I must have bruised myself somewhere without realizing" he replied while still looking at his hand. The chief of the station Mr. Eric Hunt arrived at the station few minutes later after they had left, he found Lucy at the front desk looking at Mr. Carmen's information on her computer, "where's Henry" he asked,
"Oh he just left to go to Mr. Carmen's place" she replied
"Ok when he comes back, tell him we need to talk" he replied and then left to go to his office.
"Sir we need to know what is your schedule for tomorrow" Claire asked Mr. Carmen, they were inside his office together with Henry,
"Tomorrow is my birthday, I was supposed to have party but because of recent events, I decided to cancel" he replied,
"No you can't, you have to do it" Henry quickly replied,
"Why" asked Mr. Carmen,
"Its going to be harder for her to attack you in public than when you're at your house" Henry replied while slowly pacing around the room, showing confidence with what he's saying,
"No...., No am not going to be one of your lab rats again" he replied angrily,
"I don't think you understand the grave of the situation here, we are trying to protect you" said Claire, "and we are not asking you to, You have to, it's not your choice to make anymore" Claire added while leaning on table with her hands,
"I already decided that party is cancelled, and nothing you say is going to change my mind" he replied back, his voice shaking afraid of what they will do to him,
"You know we have this special file" said Claire while getting her hands off the table,
"its filled with a lot of things people don't know about you" said Henry standing next to Claire,
"Yeah, some really nasty bad stuff" said Claire nodding her head to agree with him,
"You are bluffing" said Mr. Carmen,
"Are we" Claire replied while looking straight at Mr. Carmen's face,
"Fine, we'll do the party" he replied
"Good we need you to prepare the guest list, and everyone who will be working in the party" said Henry
"There are people downstairs who will be in charge  of your protection" Claire interrupted
"They will be with you every where you go for the whole day" added Henry,
"Where are you guys gonna go" asked Mr. Carmen surprised that they are leaving,
"There are somethings we need to take care of" answered Claire and they left, leaving him alone in the office, they walked together heading to the elevator,
"Hey I have to ask, even if we have the names of everyone at the party, she can simply use a face of anybody at the guest list and get in, that's what she always do" said Claire,
"I know, that's why am making guest list confidential, only you and me can access it" answered Henry, he then pressed the button to open the elevator doors,
"Then where are we going now" she asked as the elevator doors opened,
"To see someone who worked at the Raven labs" he answered, "would you mind pressing the ground button please" he added while pointing it, she pressed the button and down the floor they went,
"What does Raven labs have to do with the investigation" she asked as the elevator was going down,
"That's what we're supposed to find out" he replied.
They took a car and went to see a man named Mr. Norman, he used to work for Raven labs before its fall eighteen years ago, Henry went ahead and started knocking on the door, a minute later Mr. Norman answered the door, "hi, how may I help you" he said,
"Sorry are you Mr. Norman" asked Henry,
"Yes, is something wrong" replied Mr. Norman with a smile on his face,
"Were from the police station, we're here to ask you a few questions about Raven labs" said Henry, soon as he mentioned the name Raven Mr. Norman's face changed, he became so scared, "you need to leave" said Mr. Norman
"Wait, but sir......"
"I said leave" screamed Mr. Norman even before Claire could even finish, "you don't know what getting yourselves into" he added and went back inside the house and slammed the door behind them, he watched them as they went back to their car and left through the window.
"What are you not telling me" asked Claire as they were driving back to Mr. Carmen, Henry was the one who was on wheel driving the car,
"All I can tell you is that all of our victims are somehow involved in the Raven labs incident" he said, she gave a thought on what he just said for a second
"So we are giving up on Mr. Norman" she asked,
"Who said we're giving up" he replied while looking at her, "I left my phone number at his door step he's going to call me when he's ready to talk" Henry added
"How sure are you he's going to call" she asked
"Oh trust me, he will" he replied with a smirk on his face.
Next day was the day that the assassin had set for Mr. Carmen to die, all the police were holding tight to him making sure that nothing happens to him, Henry, Claire,Lucy and Mary were at sight were the birthday party is going to take place, they were doing every security check to make sure the assassin doesn't get in loosely, the party was taking place on a rooftop bar, they were setting up cameras throughout the rooftop, as they were still installing security measures on the rooftop suddenly Henry got a phone call from an unknown caller, "meet me at the Parkway diner and don't bring your phone" said the caller as soon as Henry answered the phone,
"Norman" asked Henry with a surprised face,
"Meet me at the Parkway diner, fast" he added and then hung up, the caller sounded so serious and like he was scared of something or someone,
"Hey Claire, we need to go" said Henry while nodding his head,
"Go where" she asked in a surprise,
"He called, we need to go" he said,
"Where are you guys going" asked Lucy,
"Let me guess, chasing a new lead" Mary interrupted with a smile on her face
"You guys can handle things here right" Henry asked,
"Yeah sure we can" answered Lucy,
"Hey Mary, quick side bar for a second", said Henry, he took somewhere at the edge of the roof far away from Lucy and Claire so that they could talk in private,
"Something's up with this those two" said Claire, as they looked at them,
"Isn't obvious" Lucy replied, "they are dating" she added.
Hours later Claire and Henry arrived at Parkway diner to see Mr. Norman, he hadn't arrived yet so they took an empty table and sat to wait for him, a minute after they sat down a strange man showed up and sat at their table, "did you bring your phone" asked the man while looking around the diner,
"Mr. Norman" Henry replied in surprised, they were all surprised to see him cause they completely didn't recognise him in his disguise, "no, we didn't, we did as you asked" added Henry,
"Good" he replied and the looked around the diner once more,
"The night that Raven labs went up in flames strange things happened" said Mr. Norman and they all paid attention to listen him, "I used to work there as a guard, my shift had ended so I had to leave, I was wearing a uniform so i went to the bathroom to get changed, suddenly the power went out for a few seconds and it turned back on again, it was quite strange for me cause I've never seen a power outage since I started working there, when  I was on my way out I saw a little girl, she was bald and wearing a hospital gown, when I went to talk to her she had a barcode at the back of her hand with a number four below the barcode, when I asked her where she came from she didn't say anything back, but it clearly looked like she came from the lab. I took her back to my her house offered her some food and a place to sleep, but the next day when I heard the news about the lab burning down, I went to look for her in the room where she was sleeping but she wasn't there, I searched for her everywhere but couldn't find her, until eventually I gave up, two days later I was visited by six men with guns looking for her, but I told them I've never seen her before, they even threatened to end my life incase I was lying to them, I think they were somehow involved with the fire at Raven labs, cause they made promise not to talk to anyone about the girl or else they'll kill me" Mr. Norman gave the story,
"Then why are you telling us this story" asked Claire,
"Cause am tired of leaving my life afraid" answered Mr. Norman, he then stood up preparing to leave the diner,
"One more question before you go" said Henry, "on your course of working at the lab did you happen to meet your boss" he added
"No" replied Mr. Norman and left the diner,
"Do you think that little girl is the assassin were looking for" asked Claire,
"Am not sure, I guess we'll find out at the birthday party when she shows up" said Henry.
