A rainy day

I looked outside, it was still raining. All the kids I had with me glanced at each other.
We're stuck here until it clears and it didn't look like it was gonna clear up anytime soon.

All I heard was the clock ticking non stop, the lights flickered and one of the kids gripped on to my sleeve even tighter,

I don't like kids I thought to myself, Why am I letting this kid grab onto my sleeve? I could've sworn this library wouldn't have to deal with many kids, guess I was wrong.

Boss came back with all the other kids who were scattered around the library when the rain started. Parents had dropped off their kids for the  story time, 6-10 P.M., odd I know but that is what Boss decided, from the looks of it, it seems the library turned into a nighttime daycare, Boss sighed as he set the other kids he had with him around me. I got up after prying the one kid's little grubby hands off of my sleeve.

" So where these kids forgotten about or something?" I whispered to my Boss as he placed his smoking pipe in a black velvet case.

"Oh, Did I forget to tell you these kids are here for the overnight lessons Valeri?" Boss stated while tilting his head.

"Wait, wait we have one of those?" I ended up questioned whilst raising my voice,
all the kids started staring intensely at me.

I cleared my throat and looked at the kids, I handed the oldest one, a kid about 13 or so, a book,

"If you would, can you read this to the other kids while I have a private discussion?"

The kid nodded and opened the book while turning around to look at all the kids, the kids attention turned to them and they sat right at the front of the circular rug.

"I'm taking that as a no,," Boss sighed as we walked away, " Basically once every month we have a weekend where the kids can stay at the library for a sleepover type thing."

I sighed and glared at him as he purposely avoided eye contact with me. Boss was a tall slim man, not much muscle at all. A 5th grade kid could push him down and give him a bruise if they wanted to I think.

I walked back towards the kids, Boss followed as he carefully locked the case that contained his smoking pipe. It slowly turned 9 and all the younger kids fell asleep, the older kids were quietly talking to each other.

Boss sat by the younger kids while he cleaned his glasses. I was sitting there at my desk where you would check books out.

All the lights flickered, I looked over at Boss who looked around then looked back at me to nod as he put his glasses back on and unlocked the case to reveal his fancy gold and silver smoking pipe, his soul item.

I got up and grabbed my case filled with weapons that could defeat entities, after picking up a long sword I walked over to the older kids as they started looking around at the lights and started to go over to the younger kids to protect them. They knew what this meant.
