sweat bead is forming on my forehead as i try to block daisuke's blow and blow. damn, he's strong.

" is that all you got, puppy? " he snarled as he swing his sword towards me again. 

the sword brushes through my face, so close to cutting off my dog ear. " for the third time, i told you not to call me that " i said through jagged breath.

" kuro! " a voice called out behind us and i turn around.

next thing i knew, i was on the ground and daisuke's sword is inches away from my throat. he stands tall and proud over me. i feel so small compare to him. his vision shines brightly, as if is mocking me, like it's owner. " distraction like this can kill you in battle "

he sheathed his sword, not offering his hand to help me up. i crawl up, heat burning my cheek. even when i stand up, im only to his chest. 

" and i thought the great kojou kuro is stronger than this " he scoffed " what a disappointment. "

i ignored him and the snickering of the other shogunate samurais and ran to the owner of the voice instead. 

" daisuke is a bitch, just ignore him " the girl whispered. 

that girl is my sister, kojou sara. not by blood, we are both adopted children of the kojou clan. she's only a few years older than i, but she already finished her samurai training, already having a vision, already a leader. while me on the other hand are still getting laughed at by other samurais, still visionless and never even lead a small troops.

" i know right " i rolled my eyes " he kept calling me puppy "

" aww but you are a puppy " sara smiled and started rubbing my dog ears. i pretend to look annoyed but im actually enjoying when she called me puppy. is different when daisuke called me puppy, when daisuke say it, it sounds mean. but when sara said puppy is loving teasing between siblings.

people would describe sara as stern, but under her mask of seriousness is a girl who smiles alot and loves to tease her brother.

" i wish i could be stronger " i sighed

" don't sound so sad, you are only seventeen, you still have so much time to train, anyways, let's hurry. takayuki-sama have called a meeting to the kojous. " 

takayuki-sama is our father, but we never called him dad like our other siblings. even though im extremely grateful that he saved me when i was just a shiba puppy abandoned on the shore of inazuma city right next to tenshukaku. but he never treated me and sara like the other kids. we are distant, only seen him during clan meetings.

when we arrived at the meeting chambers, the other relatives and samurais are already here. i took a seat next to my brother ruka, kamaji and masahito. ruka smiled at me. ruka is the same age as me, and we were best buddies since childhood. 

i remember when we were young, he'd always lit up whenever he catch sight of me and scream " shiba puppy! " he would always rub my ear or tail, he always like to sleep while hugging my tail. he'd always beg me to change into my doggie form, when i do, he'd hug me to his chest so tight that my eye would pop out of its socket. but now we are not little boys and he stopped doing this.

" so all the kojou have arrived. i should make the announcement now " takayuki-sama, also the current head of the clan said.

" what could the announcement be? " the crowd murmured

" so grand that he have to make it like a clan meeting "
