As the simulation came to an end a very irritated Commander Iverson marched up to the door.
"Roll out, donkeys!" Commander Iverson yelled. The three cadets followed the command, all of them looking defeated. "Let's see if we can use this complete failure as a lesson for the rest of you students." He paused "Can anyone point out the mistakes these so-called cadets made in this simulation." Iverson questioned.
"The engineer puked in the main gearbox." One cadet stated.
"Yes, as everyone knows, vomit is not an improved lubricant for engine systems." Iverson gave a sharp look at Hunk, to which the responding looked disappointed. "What else?"
"The comm spec removed his safety harness." The girl next to me stated.
"The pilot crashed!" Another girl reported. I raised my hand.
"Their communication was off sir, they wouldn't listen to each other." Iverson nodded at me.
"Correct. During the whole jump, they argued with each other." Iverson continued, at this point all three cadets looked disappointed. I would be to if my jump went completely wrong. "Heck, if you're going to be this bad individually, you'd better at least be able to work as a team!" He shamed the cadets. It was slightly true, the whole reason they had been grouped together was because they were the worst in each of their fields. Iverson hoped that together they'd be able to even out each other's weaknesses. Without communication though, they'd be doomed. "Galaxy Garrison exists to turn cadets like you into the next generation of elite astroexplorers, but these kinds of mental mistakes are exactly what caused the lives of the men on the Kerberos Mission." Iverson was really going the whole 10 miles with this speech. Although, sometimes it's best if people have examples to learn from, which is what these simulations are for. It seemed Iverson hit a nerve with Pidge as he spoke up.
"That's not true sir!" Pidge exclaimed, he seemed angry but this was definitely not the time to be talking back.
"What did you say!" Iverson glared at Pidge for questioning him. Lance went on to cover Pidge's mouth before he could retaliate.
"Sorry, sir. I think he hit his head when he fell out of his chair. But point taken." Lance replied, covering for Pidge.
"I hope I don't need to remind you that the only reason you're here is that the best pilot in your class had a discipline issue and flunked out." Iverson stalked towards Lance, his words harsh but true. "Don't follow in his footsteps." Iverson threatened. Lance looked completely defeated as Iverson shouted for the next group to go. As my fellow cadets marched in I followed, I didn't look at the three who failed. I feared if I did Iverson would go on yelling at me to not sympathize them.

After a successful run I hit the showers, multiple girls were talking about a party that was being thrown tonight. Uninterested I tuned out what they were saying until someone said my name.
"Teagan, are you coming tonight?" She asked me. I couldn't exactly remember her name. Was it Marie or Mary? I looked at her confused trying to remember her name, completely forgetting about her question. "The party tonight, are you going?" She questioned once again.
"No, I'm not going." I responded, thanking god she didn't realize I couldn't remember her name. She didn't look surprised but a little sad.
"Well just think about it, you never go to any. It's important to let loose every once in a while." She then turned and continued talking to her friends. I felt a little bad knowing I wouldn't be think about it. I already planned to go star-gazing tonight and no party was going to convince me to miss it.
