'..Through the studies of the Quantum Theory, we're able to depict how— SHUTTING DOWN. PLEASE CHARGE.'

"No. No. No!" I groan in annoyance while aggressively assaulting the worn out keys of my laptop. "I charged you overnight you piece of shit." Cursing at the now black screen, I go in for a second round of the assault against my keyboard.

It was no use. It flatlined on me, again.

I slump down, my head resting into my arms as I take in the fact that I'll have to just look at a black screen and the old crow of a professor for the rest of the lecture.

A feminine yet defined hand reaches across me, sliding my laptop along with it as the hand retracts.

A newer modeled version of my laptop slides in front of me and I scrunch my eyebrows. "Thena, why are you giving me your laptop?" I ask my best friend, but the AirPods in her ears most likely drained my question out. "Thena." I repeat, a little louder this time.

Still no response. She was writing notes down in her exercise book that I knew wasn't there at the start of this lecture. Her gaze continued to change from the white board down below to her text book, her jaw tensing after each movement.

"Athe—"

"Stop talking." She interrupts, placing her index finger against her lips as if she was shushing me like a 5th grader.

I inaudible gasp. "I knew you could hear me." I scowl, my penetrating glare burning into the side of her face since she was obviously too occupied to turn and acknowledge her own best-friend!

She continues to take down notes, my question remaining unanswered. "Fine. But I'm taking this." I remove her left air-pod, placing it into my right ear. She doesn't say anything in protest, only a simple 'tsk' sound while looking at the side of my face this time.

My focus was turned on the laptop she had offered me and I suppress a grin that wanted to escape, the ends of my lips trembling. She shakes her head, smiling before turning back to her textbook.

The next song plays and my mouth goes agape with my eyes wide. I slowly turn to face my best-friend, bopping my head as the intro of a piano starts up. She slowly faces me, the look on her face looking like a mixture of regret.

"She knows.." I start. "She knows.." Singing along with J-cole, my head begins to bop more and more aggressively as the song builds up to the phenomenal chorus that I love. "You know the lyrics, Thena." I point an imaginary microphone towards her and she shakes her head, her hand doing a slicing motion across her neck.

"And I know she knows, and I know she knows.." continuing on without a care in the world, I knew my best friend who was a cold and threatening women in the eyes of other people, was about to become flustered from embarrassment. Embarrassment that I caused.

"Heh heh, am I embarrassing you?" I tease, poking my finger into her side with a grin. She squints her eyes, tilting her head slightly while accessing me. "You think this is embarrassing?"

"Well, isn't it?" I quiz, looking around the room to see a few eyes on us. Not a lot, but there's definitely a number. She then does something that catches me completely off guard and unexpected.
