CHAPTER 05.1 : HE'S NEAR ME

What does it feel like when someone you love dies in front of your eyes? What does it feel like to be helpless when you can't stop the situation from happening? What does it feel like to keep having a nightmare where you keep recalling those tragic events? Why did things happen to him? Why can't they just let him be happy?

Those questions were some of the thoughts Yoo Jonghyuk kept deliberating for a thousand and eight hundred sixty-four years. He lived his undying life in mourning as well as hoping. His heart mourns from the loss of someone who suddenly came into his life, and suddenly disappears like a thin air. On the other hand, he was hoping that someday, he would be able to see him again.

He remembers when Yoo Jonghyuk felt the cold temperature of Dokja's body, he desperately tried to warm him. ‘He's just feeling cold. He's just feeling cold.’ was what he hypnotized himself, saying Dokja's body was cold because the air was not humid enough so he increased the temperature the same way as the volcano rages in an unexpected way.

However, whatever he did, Dokja's temperature was continuously dropping. Dokja's pale face looked paler even more, his breathing was becoming slow while his pulse was becoming faint. Like a weak candle light amidst the wind, Dokja's life was flickering to fade anytime.

Yoo Jonghyuk tightened his grip on Dokja's body and embraced him as his forlorn cries reverberated in the whole place. Simultaneously, the mouth of the volcano spews out hot lava as it erupts madly. Dark clouds were also forming and ashfall began to spread in the mundane world, the same way as the tears in his eyes began to fall down.

The only last words Yoo Jonghyuk heard from Dokja he would never forget was “I love you” before his life force finally died out.

“...Dokja-yah? Dokja-yah! Dokja! DOKJA!”

Even if Yoo Jonghyuk repeatedly called on his name, Dokja would never open his eyes again to respond to him. He would never see those beautiful eyes directed to him as if he was Dokja's world.

He died.

Dokja really died.

Before he could put his plan into motion, the person he would give a gift and his life to was already dead.

This was all because of her.

It was her fault.

‘I'm going to kill her. I'll kill her.’

His eyes were blazing with fire as he looked in a certain direction. His blood churned and the pressure around him became heavy and suffocating. “I'll kill you.”

Yet, before he could execute his attack, Han Sooyoung had stopped him. “No, you can't!”

Since Han Sooyoung interrupted in the middle, Yoo Jonghyuk just mercilessly attacked her as well. Friends or foes, all those people or entities who stop him would receive his anger and blows. “What are you doing?! Are you implying it's fine that she killed Dokja?!”

She groaned as she healed her bloodied shoulder. “That's not it!” She shouted, trying to keep control of the situation. It's not like Han Sooyoung was not angry, rather, she was very mad. Really really mad like Yoo Jonghyuk was. Still, she didn't let her emotions totally eat her.

“Then why the hell you stop me?”

“Can't you calm down for a moment and be rational?!”

Han Sooyoung's request was hard to do. Yoo Jonghyuk didn't answer and ignored her. The temperature grew hotter similar to hell where those who sinned would be tortured, and right now Yoo Jonghyuk only wants to punished who stole his treasure away.
