I could see the light glistening through the water. The darkness began to consume me. I felt its cold embrace pull me deeper. An embrace I will soon not forget. For this darkness will become my home. I let out one last scream for her, but no sound was heard. The final light faded from my sight and all that was left was the darkness.

As a young boy, I was always fascinated with death. When mother wasn't looking I would sneak into the kitchen grab her best knives and set traps for my furry little friends. We lived in the forest, so I didn't have many friends. Once they were captured I held the animal on the ground and stabbed it over and over and over again. One day my mother caught me. My heart sped up and I frantically thought of what her punishment would be, but she smiled at me, and with a loving touch held the hand that had the knife and said, "Oh Jason, you're doing it all wrong. If you want to properly kill them, you must make it precise and clean." With her guiding hand, I quickly slashed the animals' throats, watching them cling to life. I looked at my mother and, in her eyes, I could see how proud she was of me. Ever since that day, I would always listen to my mother's guidance for mother knows best.

One day when I was walking through the woods I found a doggy. He was small and brown with white stripes and covered in dirt. He didn't have a tag, so I told him he could be my dog and I named him Freddy. As we walked back to my house we stopped next to my pile of dead friends. The rabbits and squirrels were covered in flies and the cuts I had made in them. When I looked at their dead eyes I could feel their souls still trapped in their bodies. As I remembered all I had done to them, my new friend started licking them and then my hand. I knew he was proud of me too for my actions. Once we got back home I ran to mother excited to tell her the good news. I ran into the house yelling "Mother! Mother! I have a new friend." Right as I was about to tell her Freddy had ran into the house all muddy. However, mother wasn't in the house, so I started showing him around his new home. Once we got to my room I heard the front door open and heard my mother's angry voice yell, "Jason Voorhees you get your ass in here now!" I ran into the living room all smiles and following me was Freddy. "Mother I got a new friend. I named him Freddy." "Well your new friend just dirtied my living room rug. Where did you even get this mutt." I laughed, "he's not a mutt he's Freddy and he's my bestest friend." I looked over at Freddy who was about to pee on the rug. "Oh, hell no!" Mother went up to Freddy and grabbed him by the neck and dragged him outside. I just stood there not understanding what she was doing. He is my bestest friend. Mother is supposed to like him, and she will be his new mother too. I walked outside to find mother tying up Freddy to a tree. I tried to stop her, but she just slapped me across the face and said to stay back. I looked at Freddy's eyes, full of the same fear as the other animals I had fun with. But this time was different, this time I felt bad, this time I wanted him to live. I saw mother reach for the knife and I just froze. She grabbed the dog by the head and slashed the dogs throat. I fell to my knees and cried. Why did mother do this? Why did she kill my bestest friend? Mother stabbed Freddy one last time and left the knife in him. Wiping her hands on her pants she looked at me, "Clean up this mess you caused." Without hesitation, I removed the knife from his chest and cut him loose from the tree. I picked him up and brought him to my pile of friends and placed him on top. Mother came up behind me and placed her hands on my shoulders. "There, now you will learn not to disobey mother. I only do this because I love you Jason and I will always protect you." I just kept looking at Freddy. My only friend lost forever. I watched the life fade from him just like I watched all the others but this time I didn't feel his soul. He must have gone to heaven with all the other little angels. Mothers says if I'm good I'll go there one day.
