Wan was numb the entire time Zaheer was ranting. Everything was out and in the open. He had been caught. "Out of all the things you would have done! You called your father a Bó and pretended you were a noble man! To think that the princess would even spend her days with a man who was covered in soot and dirt!" Zaheer paced back and forth.

But something in him snapped, and Kaiyo saw a fire in his eyes. "Are you upset that I am more interesting and competitive?" Wan sassed.

"Where is the Dachang, Wan!" Zaheer screamed.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Wan glared at Zaheer.

"Everything in the Dachang! The robe, shoes, the jacket! It's gone! You hid them. I know it!"  Laghima shouted. Kaiyo didn't say a word, but she was seething as well. "Where are the candlesticks and the tapestries and the silver!?" Wan raised his voice, facing Zaheer in the eyes, "Perhaps the Dachang is with them?"

"I swear by the spirits I will whip you again if you do not produce-"

"Then you're going to have to whip me too!" Kaiyo shouted, standing next to her brother. "Oh, now the little girl has stepped in!? Give me the Dachang!"

"I would rather die a thousand deaths wretchedly than to see my father's Dachang on that selfish, spoiled, ungrateful, despicable pig cow of a son you have!" Wan cried angry tears as he barked at Zaheer. The room was silent for what seemed like hours. Kaiyo proudly gazed at Wan in front of Zaheer's face.

Zaheer sneered, his voice low, "Done." He dragged Wan by the hair to the cellar. Kaiyo didn't have time to react as he was pulled and locked in the dark cell.

"Open this door again before dawn, and you'll wish you never set foot in this house. You two gather everything that will fetch a price. We are going to town first thing.”

"But-" Anvi said, "It's just a ball!"

Zaheer didn't respond before glaring at his daughter.

----

Wan was in the dark cellar for a day while Kaiyo and Yao tried to pick apart the lock. They could only bring Wan stale bread, and Zaheer was watching them. Once they were off to the ball, the two had a chance.

Jaya tried to crack the lock, but he also failed. Bolin and Mako came with an extra friend. Bolin opened his palms and outstretched his arms to introduce, "Here is Iroh, the greatest artist and tea maker!" The older man, with a bit of wit and opened the door with ease. "Yes!" Jaya cheered, opening the door. Kaiyo rushed in to help her brother up. They both walked to the main hallway while Yao closed the cellar door.

Iroh hummed, realizing the situation, "The Gōngzhǔ is expecting you."

Wan shut his eyes, "I am no noble man,"  he teared up, "She won't accept me. My name is Wan Nami, and I am no more than a servant in my stepfather’s household."

"And? Your title does not define you." Iroh said, "Destiny led you this far."
