AN: Day 1 - Rain.
It's been so long since I posted anything. Sorry for the hiatus. Life hasn't been good to me lately but I'm coping. Life is full of unexpected situations and no matter how much we prepare for something, it would always come and smack us, hard, that we would fall down. This story is something close to my heart, I wrote it when I was feeling down. Some sort of an outlet for my thoughts. I'm sorry in advance for the bittersweet story.

The young man's eyes widened and gained a spark after seeing the drops that seemed to be in a hurry to crash down on the ground, wetting everything in its wake and making several living creatures scramble for shelter. The dreary weather was in complete contrast to what he was feeling at the moment, his heart pounding faster against his ribs in elation seeing the precipitation of the weeping sky.
A slow smile bloomed on his face as he stretched a hand beyond the protection of the concrete structure up above, feeling the cold drops on his palm.

Dull brown eyes widened and gained sparks when they chanced upon a figure standing outside through the clear glass of the window. The young boy watched in fascination and envy at the scene outside, in the pouring rain, wanting to join the other young boy. But he couldn't. His mae would get angry at him and he wanted to be a good boy for his mae.
Then the other young boy, who was oblivious of the watching brown eyes, did something that made the owner of the eyes purse his lips. Thin arms wrapping around the torso, signifying that the other was cold.
The brown-eyed boy left the window, leaving the other kid who was obviously starting to freeze yet still stubbornly playing in the rain.
The drenched kid, bald and thin, raised his face towards the sky and let the rain drops fall on his face. He blinked rapidly and opened his quivering lips, sticking out his tongue to taste the rain. He had always wondered what it tasted like and even though he had already done this a couple times, he was still unsatisfied that rain had no taste. He didn't want to believe it.
Rain should taste sweet, like cotton candy, because rain came from those fluffy things right? Those big, and white, and sometimes gray and angry, floaty thingies in the sky.
His theory was that the sun would melt them and then they would fall down on the ground as rain, so rain should be sweet. As sweet as cotton candy. Or maybe sweeter because they weren't made by people. Like, like the soup from the flowers! He loved sipping those because they're tasty.
The young lad had closed his eyes, annoyed at how the water fell on them and blurred his vision. His mouth remained open, drinking the raindrops and stubbornly waiting for that sweet taste.
He furrowed his brows and wiggled his tongue, stretching it upwards until its limit but he still couldn't taste the rain. Not anymore. Come to think of it, he couldn't feel the drops hitting his skin anymore.
He blinked his eyes open and got confused when he saw a black canopy over his head, adorned with whitish lines radiating from a single point at the center. It was the mushroom! Err, um– unber– brol– umbrella!
"You really shouldn't be here outside, playing like this," a stranger's voice chided him silently from beside him.
He scowled at the pale boy beside him who was preventing him from tasting the rain. However, instead of fearing his fearsome glare, the young boy remained unfazed, standing with his blank expression and holding the big umbrella steadily. He scrunched his face further to show that he was terribly unhappy at being disturbed. Only to have the opposite effect still!
