Blake stood on a boat, alone, unlike everyone else on the ship.
Jumping at every noise she heard, reminded of what she caused.
From across the deck, a hooded figure watched her cast her bow into the ocean, letting her Faunus nature show.
---------------------------------------------------------
Yang sat at her home, changing channels on TV, deep in her melancholy, stopping on one particular channel.
"High Ranking White Fang member, Adam Taurus, was found in the surrounding woodlands of Vale. All attempts to apprehend him have been met with brutal resistance-"
The front door opened, Yang turned off the TV, hanging her hung upside off the back if the couch, "Hey dad."
He came in with a ton of bags, including a box for her. He set it down in front of her, she took the top off, a prosthetic arm laid inside.
"State of the art Atlas tech." He told her how surprisingly easy it was to get, "It's a prototype, only one other person has something like this." Yang raised her brow to that.
"A friend. Jonathan L/N, he's a Biotech engineer who-" Yang stopped him, saying she knew who he was, she sat back again, looking at the metal arm in front of her.
"You gonna try it on?" He asked, only for her to dodge it, stating that she felt under the weather.
She got up, going about this monotonous life, cleaning, getting the mail, doing dishes, only for her to suddenly remember his face.
The stinging pain as the one thing that made her able to seek her thrills was viciously ripped away from her.
Breathing sporadically and stumbling into the counter, slamming her hand onto it, "Why..." She mumbled.
She tore at herself. If Y/N, someone who had lost so much more than her, could bounce back so easily, why couldn't she?
---------------------------------------------------------
"It's off the Bow!" A sailor yelled, a giant seaborn Grimm resurfaced, roaring at the ship as Blake fell back onto the deck, her shoulder sprained from the fall.
The monster sprouted wings, rising up from the blue water and flying at the ship, Blake tried to stand up, only for someone to hold her down.
They walked up to the bow, hand on their belt as they drew their sword, "I say when it ends!" They yelled, their blade gleaming as they swung once at it.
The beast split in two, falling in half on either sides of the boat, sinking to the depths as he sheathed his blade.
The stranger turned around, seeing Blake being helped up by the hooded figure from before.
"Hurt, princess?" She tugged the robes off, Sun was disguised underneath, getting a heavy slap from Blake.
The swordsman looked out at the darkened sky, the sun having set just a few minutes ago.
Time flew as they listened to the idle conversation the two Faunus had, "Just because you aren't going after them, doesn't mean the Fang aren't coming after you. So I'm staying with you. Plus... I'm kinda already on the boat."
They frowned, looking out at moonlit water, "Indeed." Holding the railing as they went bellow deck.
---------------------------------------------------------
Yang awoke from a nightmare, Adam had made her live the hell of that moment again every night.
She looked over at her nightstand, the arm glistening in the natural moonlight, "...Y/N..." She thought, everytime shes even looks at it she's reminded.
Yang heard talking downstairs, laughing, it was four voices, recounting a time when Qrow was tricked into wearing a skirt, thinking it was his uniform.
"Hey, remember how I had convinced him that-" the other fourth man struggled to contain his laughter, "That that bow was a part too!" He laughed.
Yangs father slammed his hand down, "That was you!?" He yelled, breaking into laughter with him, Oobleck and Port.
The latter placed his leg on the table, mockingly teasing them as though he were Qrow on the day, struggling to balance and falling down.
Yang giggled, making her eavesdropping presences known.
She walked in, taking a seat on the counter next to her old man, allowing the topic to shift to Tai and her mother.
He tried to change topic, "She's a grown young woman. If she can handle combat, she can handle a few jabs at her old man." Port said.
Tai told them that regardless, she was just a kid still, getting an unhappy response from Yang, stating that regardless of age, shes fairly adult at this point.
"Adult or not, You still got a long way to go before you're ready for the real-" He was cut off by the the biggest man standing up.
"Tai," he spoke, "If you bring up the real world in a conversation about yours kids..." He stumped over to the man.
Placing his hands on his neck, "I'll tear your head off!" He joked, shaking the man playfully as Yang lightly beat him up too.
"She's not the only one who lost brain cells with the arm!" He choked out, getting the three to laugh.
Oobleck leaned out of his chair, "Are we finally talking about the goliath in the room?" Making them burst out laughing again.
"So, Yang." The man spoke, unhanding her father, "Why haven't you tried it on yet?" She spoke quickly and with a Low tone, "I'm... Scared."
Saying that no matter what, this is her normal now.
"Normal is what you make of it." Tai tried to help, getting a less than happy response from Yang, "I lost a part of me. A piece of me and it's never coming back."
She felt two hand on her shoulders, the broad man looked down at her, "In that arm, was it the mind of Yang Xiao Long?" She questioned he meant.
"In legends, when a hydra has its head cut off, does it just die?" Yang shook her head, "But I'm not a Hy-"
"When my son lost his arms, did he just die?" Yang didn't understand, "No, he clung to the life he had left and swore or bounce back from that pain!" He yelled.
Yang stopped for a second, realizing who exactly this was, "When Sid dragged Y/N to us, mangled and bloodied, there was only one thing in his heart. Fear." Jonathan spoke.
"Fear that what he had done was in vain. But no sacrifice is in vain. Not if you believe it true." Port added onto the statement, "Fear is like any other emotion, it comes and goes. It's all in how you handle it."
Yang looked down at her stump, "It really does all come back to him..." She said under her breath.
The larger man assured her that if she doesn't like the arm he made for her, he could always make another.
"But I made a few changes I think everyone would want to have even in their normal arm." She couldn't help but smile at his infectious optimism.
"Fine. I'll at least try it on." He smiled, offering to help with the mounting. Tai took it out from the box on the table while chuckling.
"You L/N guys have some charisma alright... Y'know, with how similar you are to his kid, I'm surprised you two aren't at least interested in each other." His words slightly embarrassed his daughter.
"Dad, come on." The older men were amused by this, seeing her still be able to laugh despite everything. "Now you'll have another thing in common." Jonathan placed a small patch onto her stub.
"Thanks to advancements made these last few years, you can simply stick the arm on. The nano machines will do everything." She looked at the yellow arm on the table.
She could feel her hand, "It's just you." He muttered, "Nothing can change that." Yang picked it up and slipped it onto her stub, holding it there for a second.
The hand buzzed for a second as it powered on, connecting with her as she moved the hand, precisely moving the fingers and wrist.
"So... You're armed, but are you ready?"
