Aryan Singhania is a 29-year-old businessman who runs the prestigious Singhania Group of Companies. Revered by his employees for his relentless dedication, he has propelled the company to become one of the top three firms in the nation. However, Aryan is known for his intimidating presence; a single glance from him can send shivers down the spines of those who work for him. His unwavering pursuit of perfection leaves no room for clumsiness.
His employees fear him; just one look from him is enough to make people shiver. His mother and his aunt's family are hell-bent on getting him married, but he keeps running away from the topic. The trauma of witnessing his father's infidelity, even while being married to his mother, and witnessed his mom's suffering because of his father, he has been disillusioned. His parents' marriage happened because of love—how laughable. He believes there is no such thing as love, and marriage is just a sham. His only love is his family and friends. Nothing else and no one else. After the tragic accident that claimed the lives of his father and his father's mistress six years ago—who was half his father's age—Aryan feels a deep shame over his father's actions. Just the thought of it ignites a fury within him.

As Sarah entered the mall, her phone rang. It was Mrs. Nitya, expressing her gratitude for the splendid wedding she had planned. They also discussed the reception that would follow their honeymoon. After hanging up, Sarah gazed up at the sky with a wistful smile. "Maa, I'm doing great, aren't I?" she murmured, taking a few deep breaths before continuing into the mall.
After grabbing a cart, Sarah made a beeline for the children's clothing section. She filled her cart to the brim with at least twenty outfits for various ages, then headed to the confectionery aisle, where she purchased five large boxes of chocolates and several boxes of biscuits. The sheer volume of her purchases became overwhelming, so she enlisted the help of a service staff member. After selecting some toys and books, she approached the counter with three carts overflowing with goodies; one cart was under her control while the other two were managed by the staff member trailing behind her.
"Can you please deliver these items to this address?" she asked the cashier, settling her bill with a card while handing over the delivery address.
"Of course, ma'am. However, there will be an additional delivery charge," the cashier responded cheerfully.
"I understand. Just go ahead and do it," she replied, smiling. Turning to the young man who frequently assisted her during her shopping trips, she said, "Sagar, did you have lunch?"
Sagar, a 20-year-old part-time worker, returned her smile. "No, I was waiting for you! It's the second Sunday of the month, after all. You always come on the second and fourth Sundays."
"Oh, you remember! Let's go grab a bite; I'm starving," she said, tugging him toward the mall's restaurant. They ordered two veggie whoppers, peri-peri fries, and Cokes as they chatted animatedly.
"How are you doing these days? How's school?" Sarah inquired, taking a bite of her burger.
"It's going well! I'm determined to finish my MBBS with a gold medal. Just two years to go!" he replied eagerly. "I still remember how my parents had to beg relatives and banks for a loan, but you helped me without hesitation. I—"
"Okay, okay! How many times do I have to tell you not to bring that up?" she interrupted. "That's your past; focus on your present. Just promise me you'll make us all proud one day. And remember what I said—you're giving me free lifetime treatment after you become a doctor!" She looked at him seriously, locking her gaze with his.
"Hmm, I never forget my promise. I will not only give free lifetime treatment but also myself after I finish my studies," he said with a serious expression on his baby face, his cheeks bulging out because of food.
"Oh, he looks so cute."
"Oh really, but you don't need to. For me, you will always be like my younger brother. And as you know my ideal type, I am into older guys," she said while pinching his chubby cheeks with her greasy hands.
"Ughhh, how many times have I told you not to pinch my cheeks?! I am not a kid," he said with an irritated face.
"Oh, but you are," she said with a smile. She really liked to annoy this kiddo. "And Sagar, please make sure that the delivery is done by evening."
"Don't worry. As usual, I will make sure, and you will also get a message when the delivery is done."
"Hmm. Thanks, kiddo."
Then they both talked about some other things until they finished their food. After that, they bid farewell to each other.
At the exit, Sagar looked at her with concern. "Take care, Sarah."
"Why the long face? It's not like I'm disappearing forever! Just remember to look after yourself while studying, got it, my chipmunk?" she said, gently patting his head. "Smile! The frown doesn't suit you."
"Okay, I promise to take care of myself. Bye," he said, trying to hide his bittersweet smile.
"Bye!" she chirped, then hopped into a cab home. After seeing her leave, Sagar also went back into the mall.
By the time Sarah arrived home, it was nearly 5:00 PM. She immediately began researching Blue House Hotels and the Sharmas, the new clients of her event planning business, Vernam. By the time she had gathered all the available information about Mr. Sharma and his company, it was 8:00 PM.
After cooking a simple meal of rajma rice for dinner, Sarah savored her food while blasting her favorite music. Silence scared her, so she filled her space with sound. After a rejuvenating hour-long shower, she slipped into a comfy nightdress and took her sleeping pills, eventually drifting off to sleep.
